Regarding the APR FMIC, does anybody know if the piping from a Golf MkIV GTi would fit the Polo? Could buy from APR overseas for cheaper than APR locally?

For stock turbo, I think the APR us better, but cost a lot more. If you can get the work done cheap, custom piping with a good cooler would be ideal.

Forge is good for the cost. The guide that comes with it is pretty comprehensive, can be downloaded from the Forge site to see what's involved.

Main thing with the Forge is that its easily reversible if you plan on selling the car down the track.

Surely the Seat intercooler will be fine over here. I've been in the colder parts of Spain on 40 degree days. Seat wouldn't make these standard on their Cupra's if they weren't going to handle a few hot days?

The Seat cooler is for the diesel. Bigger core but you have to work out the piping.

I dont claim to know much about cars but if you were worried about overheating the engine because of lack of air to the radiator couldnt you either get a better radiator or upgrade the thermal fans?

And surely the seat intercooler would be better then the standard SMIC right??
it could cope with australian climate for sure, its made to keep the air cooler!

I thought the Seat FMIC was for both the Diesel PD160 Ibiza Cupra as well as a 1.8T 180bhp Ibiza Cupra? Sorry to speak in BHP terms I can't get my head round all this KW business!

Takes a while. Easiest way I found is to learn the standard motors.

When i get some spare time ill look and see what area's those cars were released in. Then can look into the climates the areas have and go from there. Instigator if your still reading whats the warmest place you have raced your car at for long periods of time? Very keen on this Intercooler if its suitable.

                            Barcelona, Spain.

It's northen and coastal so in theory it should be the cooler part of Spain. In theory Southern spain would be very hot most of the year round considering it's not far from Africa.

Maybe the Ibiza Cupra's have different radiators?

It wouldn't be so much the cooling capacity of the intercooler, but the radiator to keep engine temps under control. If you need the change the radiator, it's likely to blow out any cost effectiveness of the Seat cooler. Perhaps some of the South African members have some knowledge as they get both models (polo and ibiza Cupra) from recollection.

Instigator is in Belgium, not barcelona.

The SEAT Cooler shouldn't cause much of an issue. Problems occur when you have a large gap between the intercooler and the radiator. It can cause a low pressure gap between the radiator and the intercooler and a high pressure area in front of the intercooler and behind the radiator so the air stagnates and doesn't flow through.

I honestly doubt you would have any major issues with the SEAT intercooler. I have been looking for one as well and haven't been able to find them.
