  • Polo GTI - Custom made dump pipe

Went to exhaust place today for a quote, they said because it has 2 senors in it it would cost 1200bucks does anyone know a company that could make one for under $1000?

    $1200 is pretty expensive.

APR also advertise their dump pipe including catalytic convertor for $1199.

I was quoted $1500 for a full stainless system from the turbo back by my exhaust guy that did has done the system on all my cars including my TT Commodore, I imagine just the dump pipe would be quite a bit less than $1200 if I just wanted that. He's in Sydney which is not going to be much of a help.

Depends what you are considering tune wise mate, if you go stage 2 tune you can delete the 2nd sensor if that helps your plight, software deletion

For that price I would recommend a Miltek system! Can't go wrong

I dont know how they can do one for $500 even $700

A good cat isnt cheap say $300, also the flexi joint is expensive $200

I had quotes of about $1200

The APR ones are made here, someone said they are just made at a exhaust place, not sure if this it true or not.
I wonder how much they add onto the price to call it APR

I rang a local exhuast place and I was quoted $600 just for the hiflow cat. Seems pretty steep to me but then again APR are quoting $1200 for just the downpipe and hiflow cat.

You don't need to replace the cat unless you want to, and a good fabricator will be able to free up the restriction in the bend, preserve the cat, and eliminate the need for a pipe with two sensors.

In Canberra, see Raff or Neil at Fyshwick Exhaust. Should be well less than $600 all up

Mine was pretty cheap, but TBH, I'm not sure exactly what they did in terms of the sensors. I went with a recommended shop and let them do their thing...

Agree with Rob Bliss, I've used them as well on other cars.

HOWEVER ... in Brisbane, go to Mike Webber, (http://www.prestigeandperformance.com.au/) he has now done more than 6 custom DPs for Polo GTIs that I know of and I got more than 12kw atw after he did my Polo GTI's.

2nd best bit of upgrade to be had for a Polo...... and its less than $1000 by a fair margin.

It is ridiculous to expect work like this to be done for $500 or less ......

                            Hi Guys,

Is there any significant gains if one decided to go for 2.5" downpipe and catless? Assuming the reflash is stg2, having the cat cell delete parameter.

                              Actually, no... no it isn't.

If you're happy with mild steel you can get it even cheaper still. $300 for a quality dump pipe is certainly possible, and given enough bargaining you could even squeeze a full turbo back system including a high flow cat for just under $1,000.

Edit: I wouldn't bother with catless, the gains from cat removal are very minor and not worth the pollution (and $10k fine here in Aus) that comes along with it.
