Im a fan of stock airboxes and many cars have made good power with slight modifications to them but compared with a mk4 gti or a3t airbox the polo one seems to be more an answer to a packaging solution than to a performance one. The surface area of the panel filter seems quite small compared to other cars.

Seems that they made things really hard when it comes to this aspect of what is a fantastic engine. Locally a few mates have opted to go with the cone and a 90' bend inside the stock box which sucks up heat on a dyno but the improvement is definitely found on the road. This costs in the region of aus $35 so its definitely worth the try

Apparently, you get more noise increase when cutting back the flap.
I'd try it with just the SEAT intake and cut the flap if you want it louder.
I did notice a slight intake increase without cutting the flap (and it's still there on mine).Resident grumpy old fart

Is there a way I can order one and maybe have a freight charge added? No hurry to get it here (ie, courier/airmail not necessary), I'm just interested in procuring it before the supply dries up.
I guess the other option is to try and get one from the franchise holder in Wellington. They tend to charge an arm and a leg, though.2007 VW Polo GTi, white, standard. First registered in Japan, imported to NZ 2010. Owned since Dec/10. Love at first drive.

All international orders need to be quoted individually as the automated systems just end in tears. Shoot me through an email to sales@dubaddiction.com.au with your full delivery address and what you want to order then ill get back to you with a shipping quote.

Interesting read, what path are you going down with the free flowing exhaust? if it is anything like the Polo the factory exhaust isn't too bad the biggest gain is just from a De-Cat with most other things just providing minimal gains.2008 VW Polo TDi
