i have to agree on that one. I don't know why they don't have reverse and fog on both. My last car (1989 e34 M5) had both. Now even with the Passat one side is fog and one side is reverse. Aside from it not being clear to others while you are reversing, it also gets quite hard to see when reversing in dark situations.

lol yeah, i'm not sure if it's a common thing with certain Euro car manufacturers, as they'd get more foggy days over there, but the reverse foglight isn't needed down here in Aus.

I wonder if it can be modified? I don't mean just with a change of colour of the light cover & globe, but also so that it's wired up properly to come on with the existing reverse light, (& hence rendering to rear foglight switch useless).

The air vents only working on your face or feet. On hot days I find myself constantly switching it between them both. Most other cars have a "both" setting.....

The key fob needs pressed twice to open passenger and boot. On a 2 door car this is a bit of overkill. I think you can get this altered, but why is it this way by default?

While I'm on a rant.... why do we not get the 5 door GTI version here. This is the one I would have preferred as it is much more practical.

Oops, I noticed the op said one thing......................................

I owned 5-door but prefer 3-door variant as it's more rigid

Just put the dial between face and feet. Then you can have half and half, or 2/3's face, 1/3 feet. Works fine for me!

Yup, what Jon said. I always have it on mixed. Though my issue with this is that there are feet air vents for the rear passengers... why??? so when it's on your feet, it sends air con to the rear which takes some fan speed from the front. It's a two door... I'd have no worries if it was a 5 door.

I've also found that the rear air vent is perfect place for your phone (and similarly sized objects) to hide once it falls into the rear foot well.
