  • Ihi Turbo kit

Hey guys some of you may be interested in this, its an option for sometime in the far off future for me but might be another choice for some instead of stage 3 or maybe even k04 for some of you thinking that way

    http://www.jabbasport.com/store/inde...ef=ihiturbokit

basically my theory on this is you can buy a 2nd hand ihi vf34 turbo off rexnet or a wrx owner for round 1k plus that manifold other ancillaries etc not sure on those prices atm but there is at least one kit i know of installed in the uk check out http://www.uk-polos.net

just putting it out there for everyone please dont send this too off topic

click his ukpolos link, it looks dodgy (it got me at first too) but if you click on the picture it reroutes you to the rules and regulations of the forum before letting you in. not a bad read actually.

ive had a quick look around at afew dyno charts for ihi vf34, they seem to peak a little bit later in the rev range (3500-4000) which i guess could help with traction issues. i can see the atraction, though the manifold from jabba's was pretty expensive for the 1.8t (round 600 pounds if remember corectly) is there any reason in particular your going this path?

Doing a bit of research on D5S, the material used for the new 2.0TFSI Audi longitidunal motors' exhaust manifolds I found the following:

Available for 1.8Ts for Garret & IHI & K04s. Looks good. About 400 punds as well.

          HOWEVER ......

until you find a way Jasn to provide drive to the rear wheels of the Polo I'm not interested. I have severe traction issues these days and frankly it has taken the enjoyment out of driving it ...... More power does NOT equal more enjoyment .....

So much so .... that I've now sold it ....... going to a good home over the weekend.

AWD 2.0T VW/Audi to follow in its footsteps in a while ..... just waiting for FY end deals to come around

Here's the info from the website:
              20V Exhaust Manifold IHI/Garret Fitment
              Price:
              £497.87 excl Vat
              Price:
              £572.55 inc Vat

Definately a reasonable option in regards to price. If you look around on the Subi forums or ebay you can pick up VF34's for a reasonable price. Also the fact that there is a garrett fitment interests me as I have a GT28R from a previous car sitting in my garage
              Cheers,

              John

Yes, stock turbo ....... at about 5000rmin in 2nd gear whilst rolling it will wheelspin suddenly at full throttle these days ..... Standing start will see wheelspin through 1st, 2nd and at least midway through 3rd.

It is now making over 170kw up from the std 110kw and torque is approaching 370NM and whilst having power figures to be happy with has become tedious to drive smoothly.

Polo setup not meant for ultimate power. Bigger and better tyres might have helped but I can't be bothered to try and want to move on.

Have you done any suspension work to try and compensate for the extra power Sharkie?

Sharkie has always complained about wheelspin, but others with similar or more mods (flaps with k04 etc) don't seem to have the same issue.

So it's either driver or tyre related.

Best thing I ever did was chipping it. Going further than that was great but not strictly necessary.

I believe the biggest problem not to be the suspension as such but the tyres. I still run stock 16" Contis and everybody else with less, similar and more mods run better tyres.

Since I never could get my hands on the rims I wanted in 17" and 5x100 ET42 I never bothered to replace the tyres.

My thinking now is , why waste $2500 on rims and tyres, and have the same car, I'd rather buy something with great traction potential for the future.

Even if the suspension and tyres where done, there is still a limit to what a Polo will cope with purely because it is FWD. My wife's 2.4 RAV is quicker on wet road to 100 ..... (she rubbed it in my face the other day)

I want 300kw and AWD ..... essentially 2.0TFSI and Stage 3+ kit. I want a VW that I can drive daily and still do 5s 0-100 and mid to high 12s 400m. And that sadly, as much as I love my Polo, will not be a Polo.

and once again off topic johan "no offence meant here" i think most of us know by now that the polo has grip issues i was just putting up another possible option for the boys/girls who want more power.
