Once the bend procedure compresses and pulls the tube... its structural integrity will be affected… so I decided to use curves. No big deal.
but the real motive was the lack of the right tool to do the job...
if I had a decent machine for bending the tubes... would be another story

As I said above, the front strut towers are best if tied back to firewall/cage, as then the unibody will act as one component... If you don't do this, anything forward of the firewall will react differently to the rest of the car, as it is not as stiff.
NASCAR started doing this back in the 80's, and made great leaps in stiffness of their race cars

Man what on earth have you done with the main hoop. It looks like you have cut and welded the joins instead of bending the hoop.

There are a few issues with that cage. The side intrusion bars come up to high. They should be kept below the half way height of the cage.Originally posted by Plautos View Post
You should also triangulate the rear arms from the struts down to the bottom of the main hoop. A cross brace on the main hoop is also a good idea. Also I am really not sure what you are trying to do with the front legs.
Also you shouldn't really need the harness bar with the cage if you have the cross brace you can simply run a couple of bars across from the diagonal to the sides of the main hoops for the harness mount.
Also just noticed you are bending the main hoop backwards which is a no go.Last edited by Evaded Motorsport; 21-02-2011, 06:56 PM.

Do you mean get through the fire wall? I thought about doing that… but it is very difficult… I will do a reinforced front strut bar…

I´m eating my fingers… I fear that the results may be not compatible with the project… the car is already very stiff… I don´t know if I´m waiting for a miracle…

Air bags are dead weight... they stay out… stock seats also.
I´m impressed with the rear seat weight, it is very heavy… the car lifted 2 or 3 cm without the stock interior.
