Yeah mate it was more in regards to whether the structual integrity of the front bumper being compromised rather than the who would install it. Anyway I could not see any problem with our guy doing these though.

Thanks sharkie. What sort of time frame have you got to make up the numbers?

Hey Johan, just out of curiousity, do you know how hard would this kit be to fit yourself??

There is no cutting to the bumper required to fit. The only "damage" to the car is 4 holes (2 each side) to be drilled in the bumper support. The FMIC needs 2 brackets welded on to allow bolting on to these holes. This is completely unnoticable from the outside.

If you get the FMIC by itself these brackets are not fitted as you may want to devise a different way to secure the FMIC. If you get the kit, the brackets are welded on as part of the kit.

Fitting should be pretty straightforward and if you are mechanically inclined you should be able to fit easily. If I wanted to go to VW for a warranty claim on something I'd remove mine bymyself after looking at it closely when I fitted my honeycomb grilles and had the bumper off. I'd be surprised if it took longer than 2 hours to DIY.

Essentially the kit idea is for anybody not in Brisbane. You can get the kit delivered and then find someone to fit it. For those in BNE it is probably easier just to get the FMIC and arrange fitment at the source.

Not sure if it will fit a TT as I don't know what the space is like behind the bumper on the TT. I'll ask though.

                FMIC's only

$320.00 picked up in Brisbane and $345 delivered

                Fitting kit

$600 maximum + postage. Exact price expected to be between $500 and $600 depending on the price of the components at the time of the manufacturing order (for 5 kits at a time).
Quick question as it's not 100% clear to me. Does the approx $600 for the kit include the FMIC, or is it 320 + ~600 = ~900 for the FMIC + kit?

                Thanks,
                Ben.

i took it as 600 for the full kit incl FMIC core. way too expensive to pay 600 for pipe work. it shouldn't cost much more than 600 for full pipework to get made up AND installed!

Yes but when you consider the prices of other units what are you paying for there.

I paid 1600 for the one on my A3. I don't think this is pricey at all. They would have knocked them out for 11-1200 after doing the ground work on my kit though.

It was about $650 to have my own installed, which included making all the pipes, brackets etc and labour. This was about 9 months ago.

Fitting the kit will take a qualified person that knows exactly what needs to be done less than 2 hours @ labour anywhere from $60-90 an hour.

In this case I said between $500 and $600 depending on when we order as currently the labour involved to make the kits is a known quantity but cost of materials in current economic climate is not. It could very well be less than $500 even.

There is a lot of labour involved in making the pipework. It is all stainless steel piping with quality welding, bends and even the IT sensor bracket is a work of art. Expensive stuff labour like this.

LOL Now I'm confused. I also thought you were saying it was approx $600 for the entire kit. But the $600 is just all the bits to fit the FMIC right? So it will be around $900-1000 all up? How much do you think freight would be to WA on top of that?
Also when you say its all alloy piping; is any pipe work in silicone ie. Throttlebody to FMIC pipe? I wonder if the forge pipe would fit?
Also any idea of how much piping is used? Is it kept to a minimum? Obviously the more pipe means more lag which is a concern.
