          Good News

I received a price for the FMICs only during the day. Price should be close to before .... providing the AUD don't get hammered any more and shipping costs to Australia don't go whacky .....

$320.00 picked up in Brisbane and $345 delivered, registered and insured anywhere in Australia.

Price for the pipe work and silicone joints still to be confirmed to make up the complete kit. Expect it to be around $600, so all up less than a $1000.

Please note that I don't have a business and will have to pay for these FMICs to come in so will need firm orders (with deposits) to order any in. They are only available in batches of 10, so will need 7 confirmed orders at least.

As soon as I have the prices for the complete kits, you can order. You don't need to order a kit if you only need a FMIC. Kits will be made upon order locally in Brisbane, so no tie in to a minimum number needed.

My old mechanic fitted many std FMICs to Izuzu DC 2.8TDIs (Holden Rodeos) before the 3.0TDIs (with factory top coolers) came out and they made a big difference and did not need special FMICs and did many kms with no issues. In fact he even replaced some 3.0TDIs tops with std FMICs.

I venture that the GTI kits will work perfectly on the TDI's. The kits on that SA site are identical anyway by the looks of it.

Pull out a GTI SMIC and compare it to the TDI's to see if there is any difference. If not go for the GTI FMIC's. (any brand will do)

Actually mate I don't think anything has happened as yet. I think Sharkie is still waiting on a final full kit price. Sharkie is that right?

OK, some more info on the prices ....

                    FMIC's only

$320.00 picked up in Brisbane and $345 delivered, registered and insured anywhere in Australia.

                    Fitting kit including ....

all stainless pipework, silicone joints and even an intake temp sensor mount (one that is not 2m in front of the car as suggested elsewhere on this forum ). Also, fitting instructions with pics will be provided. It is not recommended to be a DIY job though. Rather have a qualified person do the fitment.

$600 maximum + postage. Exact price expected to be between $500 and $600 depending on the price of the components at the time of the manufacturing order (for 5 kits at a time).

Anybody interested can let me know if you are interested in the FMIC by itself or as a kit.

Remember that you can get just the FMIC in BNE and have it fitted by the manufacturer of the kit as well.

Will need at least 7 orders (confirmed) for FMIC's and 5 for the kits. So at least 5 kits with FMICs and 2 additional FMICs on their own.

Have a look at where the SMIC on the TDI sits. I think its in the same place as the GTI's. If so, this kit will be fine. Happy to arrange for a "guinea pig" in BNE to have a custom kit made & fitted to suit the TDI using 1 of these FMIC's. No difference in cost.

Anybody with a TDI in BNE let me know if you're interested.

Out of interest, why is the manufacturer always referred to as 'the manufacturer' and not who they actually are?

Maybe the manufacturer wants a certain amount of anominity. Maybe Sharkie doesn't want to be seen as advertising all the time. Maybe Sharkie doesn't want everyone to know. Maybe you should ask him by PM if its that important and leave the thread to talking about FMIC kits that Sharkie is organising for a great price for everyone.

This particular manufacturer sells other manufacturers' products as well and do not want to be seen as competing directly with his own product.

Referral to him for other work is by word of mouth and limited to a smaller scale. Thats why he'd make up 5 kits for me to sell or for me to refer people to him for fitment etc.

If you went to him off the street with no referral or background info, he'd sell you the other products 1st.

I make no money from it, merely providing a service to the forum. I'm happy to refer anybody to him and have done so many times in PM's already (just as I was referred to him) ..... maybe I should be getting discounts by now .... have to ask next time

Gee its a very tempting price! Now whats involved in the installation? Is there any cutting of the bumper required or does it all simply bolt on?
Also with the plumbing in the full kits - are they of the good quality silicone pipe type variety?
