my dealer let me get away with it for replacing radiator but if your worried about that you should be staying away from every mod

Jason ( jasn78 ) had an issue with his radiator and he has an FMIC - search for threads by him containing FMIC.

Every single mod will potentially void some part of a VW warranty. No matter how small. If you like to maintain a safe VW warranty do not modify a single thing on your car. Its as simple as that.

from my experience, if a mod is done with quality, and is not over the top, then dealers tend not to void warranties. I cant imagine an extra 7-10KW from an FMIC really putting that much extra stress on a car.

In my previous life, I had an SS commodore with 235KW standard. it was modded to around 290KW, and when the clutch went 4 months after I bought it, the dealer replaced it under warranty, no questions asked, and he was well aware of the mods.

Having said that, under the current economic climate, dealers may be a bit more reluctant to entertain claims, who knows....

i suppose it can differ with each dealer, depending on how strict/tight they are but generally speaking it doesn't matter how quality the mods are, if it is the cause of the problem, warranty will not cover that item.

In alot of cases the dealers don't mind doing warranty work one little bit.

They do the work and charge VW back for the hours of labour. It's a win - win. (Keep customer happy, make money!)

Not really.... You are more preserving your engine internals from detonation as the FMIC comes after the turbo (i.e. it doesn't know what sort of IC if any is connected to it)... Making sure your oil / water supplies are fresh and not overspeeding the turbo will determine turbo life

Sometimes by sticking a big FMIC on you are limiting air flow to the radiator or increasing the air charge temperature, which increases water temepratures and this is what will prematurley age a turbo
