I'm currently working on a custom CAI that will basically use a modified stock airbox and some custom piping. It'll take me a little while but as soon as I have it perfected I'll post something up to get everyone's opinion.
    Cheers,

obviously no-one is interested in any of the products i found apart from a 'maybe' on the TIP, so i will close this very soon.

anyones 'how do APR FMIC's handle track days?' questions can be asked via PM or a new thread thanks.

and thank you sharkie for starting your own thread re: EOI Polo GTI FMIC's!
Rhys, im VERY interested in the products on that site. I just gotta find out if its a GT1749va or GT1749vb. If its a va, then thats crap as those things apparently arent all-too-reliable. VB, however, and now i know how much my potential replacement turbo (and Josh's) is gonna cost when ours blow.

        Thanks Rhys!

you'll have to enquire yourself scott, i'm not going to try to contact them again. i don't have time for sh*t service. in my books, no reply after two enquiries offering to buy 5-10 units is sh*t service.

          Cheers

I wish anyone who attempts the water spray good luck in working out how to fight gravity. Took me a while to work out a way of making it not all poor out within 2 mins of filling the bottle. ha. When water goes to your washer jets it doesnt leak because its uphill. Where as going to the intercooler its downhill.

The intercooler is very very prone to heat soak. Spraying hotter then outside temp water on it. Is plain useless. It did NOTHING. Mine was setup by someone who knew what they were doing aswell. No me. ha.

You also have to think about.. Where are you going to get a pump from? I used the window washer pump. Fill it with water and then hold it on till its all gone. Its a joke. Doesnt last more then 20 seconds.

For the gain of what. 1kw. Its just stupid. Are you going to switch is on everytime you accelerate? I hooked mine up too a ecu sensor which is triggered when the throttle body is fully open. I drove 5mins down the road to the servo. Had no water left. So then i put it on a switch. Even more useless. There is much more things to be concerned about going up a mountain run fast (which is only where i find heatsoak is bad) then turning on your hecktic water spray kit and blasting up the mountain with 1kw extra.

              20 seconds later your empty.

I actually lost power on the dyno by having a water spray kit. Same dyno as i normally use. Proves dynos are ****. We did further testing which showed 1kw when its cold. When its hot. Made no difference. Water got sprayed on. Did jack ****.

Using nitrous on the other hand...... hahaha.

Put a front mount on. Gained 11kw. Used the water spay on the front mount. Made 2kw extra then normal on the 3rd dyno run.

Im testing a cheap dodgy setup at the moment. Seems to be working quite awesome. Will dyno soon. FPR and Extra injector with turbosmart t peice..

Kai: You say you used the window washer pump - which I'm sure could have gravity issues. But if done properly with a spray that would be a mist rather than a squirt that washes windows might work better as well.

We used a mist sprinkler bit.

fair call man. lots of money on the table + no response from vendor= where's my confidence? lol. if it werent for forums like this, i'd bet there'd be a few individuals who'd have to learn the hard way not to deal with companies with service like this....

                    cheers

what are you gonna do with the maf? or is that gonna remain all untouched?

some dieselers on the club are smoothing out the inside of their stock airbox too.... i dont think these guys are ricers, they've got mkIV golf tdi's overtaking Impreza's, Evo, supra, RS4, S2000 around a track (link:http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=215966 ).

Dunno if it would make too much difference, but it could be a case of (every little bit helps)...

                      cheers

The maf will remain untouched, modifying the rest of the intake path. I'm hoping to have something sorted out within the next month or so (been pretty busy lately).
