Does wet weather frustrate you?

I'm pretty sure 215-40-17s will fit fine. They are however difficult to find as most manufacturers don't make that size.

215-45-17s have been known to rub.

215-35-18s again should be fine.

The Motor test was good, sorry Blitzen but the R888s did not do so well. Interestingly, the best non-slick tyres where very close to the semi slicks ....

Sorry mate, I don't know what you are talking about, I'm not into Lady Boys, so you may have to dumb it down for me, but in regards to the article in Motor, I havn't read this yet, so I will get it today.
I have been going off the article in the first edition of Tarmac, this is where I got the initial info on the Federal 595 RSR's Semi Slicks I'm running now(12,000+ KM, excellent tyre in the wet, great wear rate, wearing better that the conti's, and I am very hard on them), and I got them off a mate brand new for half price, so I can't complain either!!
I have run Falken Azinies RT615's on my last car(got 22,000KM out of them on a Barina SRi), and had alot of fun on them, but they were scary in the wet sometimes.
In regards to the R888's, I am going off practical experience driving my mates hillclimb car shod with these(Worked and stripped 240Z with an RB25DET, dyno proven 245KW ATW). I loved the grip levels these have, and was very impressed.
In regards to the wet weather, I live in the north...We have 2 seasons, Wet and Dry, so if they are bad in the wet weather, I just swap them over, like I did on my last car.
I have also been looking at the Marangoni's too, so once I get the wheels repainted, I will be closer to knowing what I want to do with them.
A genuine thank you to all of those concerned on my tyre choice.
I do love the wet weather, but it only frustrates me coming down hill!!

unfortunately the Motor article didnt cover wear and tear. Its nice to have a perfect set of tyres, but if they only last 6 months, its hard to keep lashing out for them

THE TYRE SIZE YOU WANT WILL RUB.

The dealer fit the wrong tyres to my car when I bought it... Do what you want.

Just to complicate things...

Not every tyre is the same. Even if they are 215/45/17

Even with the measurements they differ between brands.

I have no idea if this is the matter here. Nor have i read most of this thread. But take that into account if there is a slight varience.

Interesting that the MOTOR test gave the best wet grip to the Goodyear Eagles. I had a set on my Honda a few years ago and they were crap in the rain. A set of Dunlop 3000A's were infinitely better in the wet. Softer ride, too.

Really not sure what will go on my GTI next. 14,000kms down on the Conti's and not alot left.....

Shame the Yokohama A539's don't exist anymore. They were GREAT on my last Mini. (only lasted 6000kms of real hard driving though)

As for wet weather.... It'd have to rain to do that. None of that rain stuff here in Adelaide.

Well, mostly I drive to work in a fairly normal fashion. Sometimes i can even get 6.0l/100kms if i drive nice. However, once in the Adelaide hills.....

But... I'm not sure. I've definitely scrubbed the shoulders off them, but I guess we'll see what happens with the mileage by time I replace them.

Love driving in the rain. Love testing the limits of adhesion (which I figure is driving practice for coping with emergencies).

RainX helps, since you can't drive if you can't see.

Would prefer AWD but ESP seems pretty good.

Hiya Stuwey, if you had the Eagle F1s on yr Honda a few years back, then I suspect you previously had the Eagle F1 GSD3 or even GSD2 - the ones Motor tested are the brand new "Asymmetric" - theyve only been only the world market for just over 12 months, and goodyear have only been pushing them in Oz for a few months

You should also have alook at the Michelin Precedas. They usually do well in tests. I have some on the Polo now. Infinitely better than the contis.

To me stock Contis really does good job keeping my car planted on heavy rains in here. I could go 180 clicks without having to worry about aquaplaning. F1 GSD3, as long as you stay away from Thailand made ones, you'd be ok. It's slightly better but noisy. F1 Revspec would be better choice IMHO.
