  • Polo GTI in for Gearbox recall... Courtesy Car...

    Hi,

When I dropped my Polo GTi in for Gearbox recall this morning I was waiting for my courtesy car.. I was eying off a Gold R32 praying they would throw me the keys...

Anyhow they chucked me the keys to a 2.0TDI DSG Passat. Not bad Must I say.. Strong mid range, little top end..

What is the ettiquette when getting a courtesy car? Do you need to perform certain manouvres?

If your Polo is chipped you'd be dissappointed by the way a R32 goes. You will love the sound though ... and the comfort ... but the performance will leave you less than breathless.

For a courtesy car the rule is .... drive it like you stole it .... just dont have an accident as you will likely have to sell the Polo to pay for the damage to the courtesy car.

You really think a chipped Polo will outrun a R32? my sister has a Audi A4 with 3.2 litre (same as R32) and DSG.. Its pretty quick.. Give my chipped Polo a run for its money..

So what should I do with the Courtesy Car Passat? 3000km old..

Oh and I returned my tune to normal when dropping the polo off.. Do VW service reflash the ECU and whipe out the APR program??

yeah well if you think YOU got a decent loan car- i can top yours.....

        polo club 1.4 litre automatic............

now, for anyone who says that the polo tdi is a slow car, they obviously havent driven a pog 1.4 litre auto.

i couldnt stop laughing for the first 15 minutes in the car as idling peak hour traffic was catching up to me when i had my foot down....

then i realised that if karma really IS real, and this is a sign of things to come, im absolutely f**ked, lol.

What car did you jump out of... Geez is the Polo 1.4 Auto a slow car...

The Passat is surprisingly quick with the DSG box. Mid range it rips... I turned the ESP off and it was turning the tyres easily...

But as soon as it hits the top end of the rev range, all the power just dissappears... Its literally like being in the shower and the water just turns off all of a sudden, you turn around with suds in your eye, thinking what??

One of the guys at work put his Golf GTI in for some repair to end up with a Misubishi Colt Auto. Bet he was wishing for the POG 1.4

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

When I had my Polo GTI in for a windscreen issue, I was given a Polo 1.4L -- It was kinda good to drive it because when I got mine back, I had a whole new appreciation for it.

You reckon? Flaps has now got a set of honeycomb grills on order. When he pops those in, he'll be pushing 160+kw atw. R32s will be no challenge, they'll just hold up the track for him..

yeah i hear you there- i was so glad to have a feel of a clutch back, that i spent the next 3 hrs driving around and subconsciously depressing the clutch with only my big toe- lots of foot arch pain the next day.

gotta say, though- if i wanted a car that i never had to look at the speedo because i was never worried that im speeding, the pog 1.4 isnt too bad as a city only car.

You guys with the diesel Polo's really need to drive a chipped petrol turbo Polo to see what youre missing ......

It is far more responsive and a bit quicker than a R32. I have dusted off a R32 repeatedly and not for want of trying by the stumped R32 driver.

Have a look at the timeslips posted on this very forum ....

Power to weight is the clue here ......
