Did You know your GTI has this feature...........

Most German cars seem to have it - I think the first time I saw a car with this feature would have been on the then-new 1986 7-series. The banger 18year-old 260E we have also has this feature. Not sure about the Opel/Holdens though.

What I do like though is the parking light feature that turns on one side of the parkers/tail lights with the ignition off if you flick the indicator stalk to the corresponding position, again another very German thing and useful if you park your car on a dark narrow street.

Our 2001 Polo 1.4 16V (6N3?) had it.

My 9N3 1.9 TDI doesn't have the Golf V feature where if you hold the unlock button on the remote it opens the windows though.

Yep my 92 BMW 735iL had it as well, also had all the same functions as the highline MFD apart from stereo and nav controls. Zee Germanz are way ahead of the pack when it comes to features.

Man I got ripped, I lock mine and the windows don't do crap.

you have to hold it in the unlock/lock position for it to do anything (for Polo's anyway), not just lock or unlock it.

my mechanic told me about this feature when i first bought the car but really.....what is it good for? i've never used it and never intend to.

Simple VAG COM connection at dealers, and you can have 'Normal weight' 'GTI weight = heavy' and 'Handicapped - super light' set for your steering!

Do you happen to know what the default setting is on the GTI? I read this on another thread and when I was driving today, I kept thinking about it and wondered what my steering is set to. It feels smooth and solid, I wouldn't say heavy. I mean, what exactly is heavy?

Yeah but i'd say it changes the power assist level so that it makes it a little heavier/lighter etc all the way through.

Ive got mine set up to auto close windows and sunroof if they are open and it starts to rain when the car is locked. another cool VAG-COM option.
