Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Did You know your GTI has this feature...........

I have owned my GTI for almost 2yrs and only now I have just discovered a new feature, Some of you might already know about it, so sorry if you do..

Last weekend I was Shamying my car after washing it, when I heard my daughter playing with the keys in the door lock.

Then I heard the doors lock and to my amazement I noticed both Windows and Sunroof closing at the same time, then again the doors unlocking and all of a sudden they opened again..

I was like ..”What the F@*” ………..With out freaking my daughter out, I went around to the drivers side and asked her what she was doing, she replies, nothing , Just trying to open the door.
I took the keys off her and played with the door lock to try and simulate what she was doing but nothing, the doors locked and unlock but nothing was happening to the windows.

So I asker her to do it again and **** you not they went up, then down.. by this time I thought she had some crazy ass powers, then I watcher her slowly and notice that by turning the lock and holding it in either the open or Close position it would either open or close the windows..

Soo DAAAYYMMM, another neat little feature the POLO has , and it only took me 2 yrs to figure it out… or should I say my daughter found it for me…

I knew about this, but that's only because I have a bit of OCD when it come to manuals. I don't know why, but I LOVE reading manuals, cover to cover.

I've read my GTI manual twice through now and I've only had my car for 3 weeks. Yes, even the safety booklet. I know, there's something not quite right with me.

Alot of VWs have the feature of opening and closing all the windows when the keys are held in the lock/unlock position, even my ****ty MK3 has it!

Great when you find hidden little features though hey, I keep hoping to find my car has a hidden turbo or s/c, but alas I dont think it will happen

Rotfl @ shi77y mk3s ! Yeah pretty much every VW has this, figured the same thing out by accident on my 2.slow, then realised that it also works on a B5 passat and MKIV golf.

                  Yeah. Pretty much.

My Caddy even does it, either with the remote or key..

Polo cannot open or close windows with the remote though. Only with the key in the door.
