Been speaking to a dealer about a white MY16 with the Lux package and manual transmission. Recieved the following message and wanted to hear what you guys think? I wanted to go for the DAP but I guess I can make do with Apple Carplay navi and the RVC..
"$32,734.11 is to break even on the car
Absolute best I can do for an end of month deal. "

That doesn't add up. Just go elsewhere and they'll beat it. I paid 28k flat for white manual my16.

That's pretty much the going rate around Melb cbd. I went to 4 different dealers and were all got to within that 32,600 to 32,850 range for a manual and lux pack 16 build

You must of been extremely lucky considering the list price starts at 27490 before any on roads - with rego being one of those, that's already over 28k. Is yours a 15 build, my16 maybe?

Not lucky, just good at negotiating. It's built 15 but bought in 16 and is my16. Makes no difference if you build or not.
I had the option of buying odd the boat for the same cost. I shopped around and found one locally. Build date makes no difference in price, only when it's plated.
Just tell them you'll give them 30k with lux pack or you don't want it.

I think you may be talking to the wrong poster
I thought as much, and I think there is some wiggle room there as you say. He was surprisingly forthright about having to do a few more deals before the end of month, but it's most likely a ploy to gain my trust. I said I'll let him know by tomorrow and that's exactly what I'll do. If he doesn't bite, I guess I'll get one with the DAP as I planned.
you are quite right Brad, its a local market thing. In other countries (like the UK) the reg or plated date is the one they work off, here its the complied date. The plate (a sticker in some cases and in the boot on many VWs) details that date, and thats the year the price is worked from. The MY helps values for split year model changes with different specs, but in Aus a MY16 model thats complied in 2015 is worth less than one complied in 2016 when you sell them, say in 2019 having bought them in 2016.
So about a month ago I ordered a new Polo GTI to replace the current Polo GTI (MY13 with Bi-Xenon's). Got it in White with the luxury package. Got them down to $32750. I'm sort of kicking myself that I didn't wait another week as it was the 2nd week in June when I ordered, should have waited when they where desperate for sales.
That's a great price. Are you able to let me know the dealer as I'm looking at getting one and haven't gotten close to that price. Was that also for a MY16?
