Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Every bit has a function. It's not mapped as it's not known. This has been the evolution of VCDS.

Please stop handing out terrible information.
Please reel yourself in a bit...

I've turned all of mine on and as such my tacho no longer complains about my rear fog being out and now my BCM does... I dont make up stuff for the fun of it.
And just because theres isn't a function added to a bit doesn't mean it does something. Its clear some bytes represent different sections. This is very obvious in the headunits, for instance. Your theory also flies flat in the face of 'request out of range' errors that we were just discussing on the previous page. If every bit has a function, then why does enabling tear wiping cause an error on my BCM?

Do I say if a function isn't in VCDS it doesn't exist? No.

Mr readerr0r, right on the money! Activating this, removed the bulb out warning on dash!

But where the hell is this damn cold diagnostics... all other dubs have it but nothing thus far on ours!

I even tried this again: Polo 6R GTI Cluster Ceremony - YouTube

Don't understand how this works on MY13 GTI but not on our models!!!

Seems like a Europe thing by the look of that dash. I was told he first GTI could do it but lost It in the my11 but never seen it for myself. I've ticked the box in VCDS but nothing. The my13 seem to have a few subtle changes in the programming like the little bluethoth symbol that ones up when connected next to the temp.

Yeah I have heard similar things. The original 6R Polo TSI's 2009/2010 with a "H" type dash board could do the needle sweep. Any after that couldn't which annoys me so much. Looks awesome!

That video does look European though, the headlight controls are on the left of the driver which means the car is Left Hand Drive.

I'm not too sure which box you managed to tick though. I tried activating it through "instruments" and adaption but it said the channel cannot be read / is not available...

That is strange how it accepted the coding though... mine didn't accept either.

So it seems MY11's and MY13's can do it but MY12/12.5's cant do it cause of different instrument cluster? That's a shame I wanted my needles to sweep!

Would there be anything else that MY13's can do that MY12/MY12.5's cant do? Eg, instrument clusters changed in MY13.
