Obviously only the toe can be adjusted...which it was...it was pulling slightly to the right and now it seems better now.

I've got 17" RSRs on my other car which is RWD and about 100kgs heavier than the Polo. Dry grip is phenomenal for a street tyre and very predictable at the limit, but with a treadwear rating of 100 you'd likely get 15000ks max out of a set. Surprisingly the noise level isn't much higher than something like Sport Maxxs. Wet grip is not great but driving normally for wet conditions you should not have any problems.
RSRs pick up a lot of gravel and throw it into the inner guards and most sizes also look a bit chunky on the rim when compared to most other tyres which some may not like.

For an all rounder I think RE002 is looking pretty good, I wouldn't go the RSRs and if I was going to track it I would get proper R types.

Bridgestone also do the Potenza S001 in 215/40/17 87Y. Has anyone tried this tyre on the PGTI?

I am still running my stock Bridgestone RE050, but I was wondering, when you guys took your car in for service, did they do a tyre rotation? I can see the sheet they provided me showed the tread left on each tyre, but didn't mention a rotation.

The sheet showed the fronts are more 'used' than the rears by 3-5mm.

I've just ordered 2 Bridgestone Potenza S001's for my fronts, anyone have these? Any comments on their performance?

I've just ordered them. They're being fitted on Saturday. I'll let you know how I like them

I just picked up my new replacement GTI, June 2013 Build with an August 2013 Compliance plate and it came fitted with Dunlop SP Sportmaxx 215/40/17 87Y XL, whereas my previous car, which was only 1 month old but a March 2013 build, came fitted with Bridgestone Potenza.

Wonder how they determine which tyres to fit as standard?

We picked up a brand new GTI about 4 weeks ago and from day one it had a terrible rattle somewhere in the dash. They took the car and managed to fix that, but in the process created an even worse rattle. Despite having the car for 2 weeks they couldn't rectify the rattle so I told them I wanted a 'resolution' and they agreed to replace the car with a brand new one. Same spec, same colour, just a newer build date (which they claim is an MY14 model??)

Fair to say the Dunlop SP Sportmaxx don't get glowing reviews so I might try and off-load those whilst they only have 30km on them. Has anyone tried the ContiSportContact 3?

I actually couldn't believe it when they called and offered to replace the car. I was very happy indeed and the dealer has been brilliant throughout the whole ordeal. They even have us another bottle of champagne and the same new car delivery service as when we picked up the original one a month ago. Certainly left a very good impression of VAG.

I'd go and look at the Bridgestone RE002's (currently on my car fantastic grip, little to no road noise), Goodyear Asymetric 2 (they have a special on now buy 3 and get the 4th free). The contisport contact 3 is good but its a 3+ year old design / build, I'd look at the new contisportcontact 5 and contimaxcontact 5.

Despite you not looking at this brand...steer clear of Pirelli...chewing gum quality tyres.
