      • Hi folks, just looking for a bit of info and advice... I've seen a nice set of wheels (3DSM 0.01) that I fancy for my 6r GTI. however the wheel only comes in 18x8.5 with an et of 35. Has anyone any experience or knowledge of a wheel that wide on the front and rear of the polo? Scrubbing, catching the bodywork etc? I'd be looking to lower car as well, oon h&r 35/55s to.

Really want these wheels, but I don't know if the car can take it without too much hassle!

Do you know how he did those red stripes on the lights and where the bar/lip come from?

          • The red stripes are just reflective red tape, the bumper is an original r-line front bumper with custom paint on it (the black part)

For a prime example of a brilliant lowered polo, have a look at Ryan's (Bflat) 9n. I see it probably once a week or so and every time I think 'man, that looks magnificent'.
Have you seen a kit for the 6r yet Gavs. Had a search and come up empty handed

is the mk4 axle bolted or welded to the (chassis rails)? and if it is indeed the bit im thinking of, on the polo its welded... keeping in mind i could be completely wrong and not know what im on about...
[when i get my polo back i'll take photos to try help explain]

                    • Those wheel re-entering kits are rubbish IMO. Yes they move the pivot rearwards which is OK but they also space it down when it should be going up for lowered cars. Looks aside, I honestly don't mind the idea of the rear wheels coming forwards. It means they take on more of the car's weight and offload a small amount of weight from the front.

                      • ESC do a mk4 kit but the 6r rear beam mounting points are welded on not bolted.

With the h&r 25/40 the wheel still follows the guard around with a even gap. It's the rear bumper that trails away and in that makes the gap look big at that height.

It would be a costly exercise to try and put the back straight again. If you want to go real lows you will just have to live with it.

The plates are about 10-12mm thick so it lowers them F-all and there are lower points on the car. On a ruff calculation the weight spread would be under a kg rearwards. And being a short car moving them back would help stability but it would be minimal and unnoticeable.

                        • 12mm can be noticable. Not referring to ground clearance but the angle of the trailing arm. I understand this is off topic because we're talking mk4 golfs here.

For the Polo, I wonder if u could fit a little right angled drill up in there to drill new holes up and rearward then tack big washers on for strength.

There's a lot more factors like wherl offset and tyre size as to whether a certain combo will fit.
