this may slightly OT, but I notice my DSG (at low speeds just after take off) feels like it running on corrugated road, so a slight vibration. Been doing it for a little while, and is still doing it after recent DSG update (recall 37G7)
any thoughts?White 3-dr Polo GTI

Normally in 2nd gear take offs with a decent amount of throttle input, but not enough to kick down a gear? If so, new clutches.
Regarding the 37G7 campaign, all of the talk about improved gear changes, better kick down etc will be gone within 2 weeks of the update because what the campaign does is it tells the computer to fully seat the shift actuation solenoids when the car is stopped instead of sitting at a "ready to engage" position. This prolongs the life of the solenoids, that is all. The reason people get the different feeling straight after the update is because the software in the gearbox is reset. Disconnect your battery overnight and reconnect it and it does the same thing. 37G7 does not in any way influence the way the car drives unless of course you had a solenoid on its way out already.sigpic

I have been getting this recently as well. Would this have any relation to my so called gearbox issue? Something tells me that all the issues I'm having are related but really I can't need a new gearbox and clutch already... it's not even a year old?GOLF GTI MY11 ADIDAS Candy White, Sunroof

I've been getting this "shudder", for lack of a better term, too. For about a month, now.In 1st and 2nd, at low revs and especially when the car is cold. I've taken to using manual mode to keep the revs a bit higher until warm.
I haven't been advised to get the DSG update, and couldn't find the info on erWin. I thought after reading other posts that the update would resolve this. Thanks for the info on what the update actually does, gavs.
Incidentally, how DO you get this technical info that even the service guys can't seem to get their hands on? You must have some freaky connections!2011 Polo GTI | Black | 5 doors | Comfort pack | Audio pack | 9w7 Bluetooth | Xenons - a Return to VW!

To answer questions regarding the "shuddering" For anyone who has had a manual that has a slipping clutch or a clutch on it’s way out, you will know this feeling. Generally, it will happen when you load up the torque through the gearbox, like in a low speed acceleration out of a corner. This causes the clutch to slip against the flywheel.
Yes, it is a known issue, especially in the GTI polos. Yes, there is a fix as I have already had this fix applied to my car, it’s about a days’ worth of work. Yes, it is covered under warranty.sigpic

There isn't a specific service campaign but if you go into the dealership and go for a drive with the tech and you can prove the clutches are slipping then they will replace them under warranty. There has been revisions to the friction materials used in the 7spd dsg clutches to hopefully fix this issue.sigpic

Well the clutch slipping is no longer occurring so yes, is it permanent? Well I sure hope these clutches last longer than 20,000kms but realistically clutches should last in a road car to at least 150,000-200,000kms depending on use and type of compounds.sigpic
