  • Just did it tonight.

Load up VCDS -> Select Control module -> 77 - Telephone
In Telephone go select coding and enter...

    0A00000000000010

To deactivate A2DP (which stops the iPhone cutting out on MDI) and touchscreen warning enter this code instead.

    0A00000001000010

    • Hey guys, I need some help...

On saturday I took ownership of a new MY13 polo GTI, it has the RCD510 as standard and that BT module thing.

The dealer tried to connect my phone to the module at the dealership but failed, however my iphone connects to the car just fine and it allows me to use the steering wheel buttons for the bluetooth as well as the RCD510. The BT module still say's "not connected".

So, my question is do I need the BT module to be connected? Are there more bluetooth functions that i'm missing out on that I can only get when the BT module is connected? The dealer told me to bring it in to get it working, but if it works without it I don't see the point.

      Thanks

Hope I'm on the right track with your query......
when picking up our Polo, the service guy could only connect my iPhone to the MFD.
called into another dealership and after trying a few things it was established that the iPhone could either be paired with the MFD or the annoying touch screen, but not both at the same time.

My other half drives this car, so I haven't played with the BT but unless it's re coded via VCDS cables, it does have to be turned on, ours says the same on the touch screen......BT won't work without the touch screen turned on

My suggestion would be to get out the manual and have a read of that
Congrats on your new ride, hope you enjoy it......assume you've got the Detroits on yours? (green with envy) haha

        • Awesome thank you! The dealer also spent an hour with me the other day but gave up connecting to both. I didn't care as long as it worked on the MFD. I do still need the BT module connected though for it to work.. Oh well!

Haha yes got the detroits. They look cool but they will be replaced with 18's soon

                • I'll be selling my Bury-genuine (not VW genuine) when the 5 cradle comes out, but it won't be this cheap.

                  • Trying to find pics and info on the bury 9.
How does the back mount into the bluetooth thing? Is there a specific VW model we need that can click in?

                        Totally scrolled past that!

Looks like i'll be putting in an order for the universal dock - cheers!

                        • Has anyone here ever seen a Universal VW Genuine Handy Adapter? I have a iPhone 5, my wife has a 4, and we both have cases on our phones. I'd also like to not muck around with the VCDS coding, so that we can continue using the touchscreen if we want.

From my searching, I can't see a universal model, only ever phone specific ones... is this true?

You can still use the Touch adaptor even with VCDS coding.
I'm using it at the moment until Bury release an iPhone 5 cradle.

I'm not sure what to suggest to you, as I've not seen any short mini-USB to 30pin iphone plugs. I think if you got the universal one, with the mini-USB you'd need a mini-USB to 30pin, and a 30-pin to lightning adaptor.

I'd personally recommend getting both an iphone 4 and an iphone 5 cradle, as it's going to look better than heaps of adaptor cables, but that's my 2c

                            • I actually have gotten rid of my iPhone 4S in place of a Lumia 920, and have one of the iPhone 4/4S adaptors to sell. If you are interested let me know I paid 150 EUR for mine, but happy with anything really lol

Oh, thanks - thats good to know and changes my thoughts on what to get.

Ive seen these two - micro-usb to lighting, and micro-usb to 30-pin:

Lightning to Micro USB Adapter - Apple Store (Australia)
Apple 30 Pin Male to Micro USB Female Adapter - Black - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Which I think will be discreet enough when paired with the micro-usb cable. Plus by going down the universal mount, we can always leave our phones in their cases, which I don't believe is possible with the phone-specific cradles (as they are a snug fit)?

Cheers and thanks for the advice, and for all your efforts on this thread!
