Whats with the removable bluetooth screen thingie?

I was able to pair my phone when the touch adaptor was installed, and it worked when removed *BUT* I constantly had a notice on the MFD to reconnect the touch adaptor.

I guess I must be lucky my MFD just shows my iPhone details.

Yeah that's what the VCDS coding removes

This is the code that readerr0r has kindly provided within this BT touchscreen sig

To deactivate the touchscreen warning, first make sure your phones BT is off. It'll reject the coding if its connected to something.
Load up VCDS -> Select Control module -> 77 - Telephone
In Telephone go select coding and enter...

0A00000000000010

To deactivate A2DP (which stops the iPhone cutting out on MDI) and touchscreen warning enter this code instead.

0A00000001000010

I will be going to the dealership tomorrow and hopefully they will be able to do that. Shall let you guys now how it ends up. Just a quick question what does "stops iphone cutting out on MDI " refer to? Is this to allow for theiphone to charge in the MDI and at the same time connected to the BT to make calls etc

It's more of an issue with the iPhone, it routes through whatever was most recently connected. So when you plug the iPhone into the MDI unit, it'll play through that for a few seconds. But then the BT unit connects to it and takes priority over the MDI. The headunit doesn't notice this happened and still uses the MDI which now has no sound.

Anywho it basically allows you to use the BT for calls and the MDI for charging/music. But it does disable the BT Audio function, which may be annoying if your friends want to play songs or whatever.

Just got back from the service centre, all good got the auto-locks, BT removal (however he did say that code was the old one but not sure what was old about it, however it was done in the end), the only problem was the voice help button didnt turn into a mute button just simply made it non-functional. So not sure what happened there. But thanks to readerr0r for the codes =D

Not sure on the rcd 310 unit but on the rcd 510, if this is an issue, you can go into the setup menu>Media and uncheck the Bluetooth audio box. This should stop the changeover to bluetooth audio.

I have an RNS510 and it only allows you to disable automatic switching to BT Audio, but the BT unit still tells the iPhone it can stream through it. I'm pretty sure this would be the same for the RCD510, it can't tell the BT unit to stop A2DP only to ignore it.


Edit: JP_The_Grey, yes you'll need to recode it if you use a non-VW branded Bury unit.

You can search for Bury S9 cradle or Bury Series 9 cradle. A few Australian dealers around, and a few different phones.

New VCDS is out and it lets you set how you like the Phonebook ordered. Either first or last name

Just ask them to disable the touch screen missing alert, easy to do with VCDS too. Then you can connect whatever phone you have over the BT
