Got through to the insurance company, there will be a mass assessment held at the show grounds in the new year, they are expecting hundreds of cars and they are getting every assessor they have back from and after holidays to do it.MY12 147TSI Jetta DSG | CW | Sports Pack | Sunroof | Driver Electric Seat | RCD510 | Formula 1 Tint | MFSW Paddle Shifters

Wow - sad to hear mate. One of my biggest fears is hail damage!
Mine is still at the dealership (it's been fixed) so I HOPE that it was inside and not in an outside holding area. I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb when I pick it up next weekend......Polo GTI - 5 door - Candy White, Xenons, Comfort Package, Audio Upgrade, Bluetooth, Parking Sensors and Tint

Ouch!! I own a 3 door R with a new for old policy, you've got me a touch concerned now. Don't spose you know who the insurance company was?Originally posted by pologti18t View PostThe insurance companies make those kind of decisions unfortunately.
There is a Golf R owner on another forum who had his 3 door stolen. He had new for old in his policy. Insurance company told him that because no 3 doors were imported he didn't get new for old so they are only going to pay market value!
If Gambit's car is written off and they can't get an exact replacement in a reasonable timeframe what will happen?Current ride - Golf R 7.5 DAP, Sunroof, Dynaudio, DSG

The logical step is to write your car off, more then 60% of the bodywork is heavily/severely damaged.Originally posted by Gambit View PostI am with AAMI. Does anyone know whether they are likely to write the car off, considering the damage to the roof and pillars which are all integrated to the chassis?
If you remember back to your last hail storm the Toyota Dealership near the childrens hospital (not a local btw) lost 60% of its inventory due to bonnet, roof and panelwork damage. they were all written off by IAG as per the law stating that cars from NSW, Victoria, SA cannot be deemed repairable write offs in order to reduce the amount of rebirthing of cars (half cuts etc)
Mate they better write it off, because they sure as heck can't call it a repairable write off haha

Hmmmm why did the Victorians send their cars up to QLD and NSW after those hail storms you had a few years back? if they were repairable write offs pickles down in Victoria would of sold them like hot cakes.Originally posted by anthony View PostAs far as I know, only NSW dont have repairable write offs anymore,Vic still does,I go to the auctions often.Last edited by Hail22; 26-12-2011, 07:38 PM.

My brother lives in the states but he got a call today and may be one of the guys assessing down there. I'll send him a link and get his thoughts. Based on some of the photos he has shown me of work he has done just about anything is repairable with paintless. As long as there is no sharp crease and the paintwork isn't damaged it can be pushed or pulled out.Golf R 5 door, DSG, EVOMS CAI, TXS DP, Recode Tune.
