Thanks for the photos iigx. It confirms my fears - the module on the dash is very tacky!

Very weird about the 9W7 being installed as well. I asked my dealer what the story was and he seemed unsure about the whole thing. He didn't even know what a 9W7 was. He offered an alternative Bluetooth solution at $690.

I don't get why Bluetooth is such a tricky subject for a Polo, but works perfectly on other VAG products like the Skoda Fabia.

Now I would like to understand why VW thought of the module in the dash as how I see it its not necessary.

In my phone bluetooth devices I have Touch Adaptor and VW Phone. I decided to delete my phone from the adaptor and suddenly RCD510 started downloading my Phone book and Audio streaming at this time i get exited I dont have to use the Adaptor.

Next time i start my car the, the Touch adaptor keeps looking for my phone and the RCD510 does not recognize my phone. I turn off the bluetooth on my phone turn it back on and Voila i have a connection without the adaptor.

Am pretty sure the touch adaptor can be disabled and the RCD510 will work the 9W7 as I have managed to do this without having the phone paired or connected with the touch adaptor. The question remains HOW to turn the damn thing off.

just out of interest, my wife picked up here Polo GTI during the week and it too appears to have the second module under the seat. She hasn't played around with it (the bluetooth) yet but I'll see if it has the same connectivity as you've had at some stage in the next week.

Polo GTI now standard with RCD510 and comfort package for vehicles built from November 2011 onwards

I'm a bit miffed guys, I'm a couple of days away from picking up the new GTI and the dealer is baulking on refunding the comfort pack and MDI options I added and signed up for. Basically they're saying I signed the contract and I'm stuck with it... which to a point is correct but it certainly doesn't seem fair that I absorb the cost (and the 10 month wait).

Has anyone had any success (or failure) in getting their options refunded?

Talk to customer care, doesn't seem right that the dealership is technically selling you a car for a higher price when what they're providing you with isn't what you signed the contract for. They're just going to try and get more money out of you, simple as that.

If your car was made prior to the MY calendar change that incorporated these upgrades, the dealer would have paid for those options, I think so it's unlikely they could discount the car with those options

I really doubt dealers hand over the money when they make an order. Its more likely to happen when they take physical delivery of the car.

There's a similar discussion on the Golf subforums. I believe that they do agree on the price for delivery so if it wasn't bundled like MDI and BT on the previous MY the dealers would be paying for that.

In the end they gave me $500 off the car, with the MDI and Comfort pack valued at $1270. It wasn't without a serious fight though

Customer Care cant help with the contract stuff, I know, I asked... they say its between you and the dealer... bizarre but true. In fact they will not talk to you about any dealer issues you have, and just refer you back to the dealer. Sadly in the last few weeks I also got 'involved' (not in a dodgy way) with a guy in Customer Care who denied the MY2012.5 upgrades existed on the GTI and was adamant I was wrong about it, made out like i was a bit of an idiot for believing that people on the net has had cars delivered with the free stuff etc. In the end i told him to talk to another guy there who told me categorically about it as he kept hounding me, 'trying to help me', yeah... LOL. When he rang me back the final time, he told me the radio and the MDI / BT stuff was now included. no apology, no 'I'm sorry I was mistaken and I now found out that...' etc. Just like he had just done me a favour and found me some facts then basically goodbye. mental for a customer care line. The other guy i dealt with there was superb tho, luck of the draw i guess :/

Customer care can help, you just demonstrated why they generally don't though, because a high percentage of them are flogs.

GTI Mk6 is a good case in point as to how they can help, when they want to...

Well they told me they couldnt help (and that was the good guy i dealt with...).

I agree tho about the staff, seems 50% of the Cust Care people ive dealt with have been good/useful/helpful, the other 50% were worse than cr@p/bordering on 'annoying with slight stalker tendencies'.

Man i think i am lucky found a 2012 12.5 Polo GTI DSG built and registered car within 1 week of looking apparently production date is 1/01/12 and i am picking up this Friday the 13th lol .

Sorry but theres no way i would wait 6 - 12 months for any car
