people burning 1+ Litres in <1000kms is a different story.

Interesting to have a bit of a search around for oil and various performance cars and it's pretty common to read tales of oil use in M3s M5s etc. Looks like it's a price to pay for this car, unfortunately it might not be hi-per enough to justify the tlc and retain resale value like an M car though. It is to me though. Mine isn't outrageous at this point so only being 7500kms in I'm hoping it continues to settle down.

they devalue just like the rest of them the guy with the m3 paid 50k and the guy with the m5 paid 90, both low kms. thats a HUGE depreciation (i sure as hell couldnt afford/justify/pay enough tax to take a hit like that)

        • What does this have to do with High Oil use???? The class action is something about DSG issues, isn't it?

            • 2013 Polo Gti has used about 500ml in just over 4000km which i suppose isnt to bad compared to what others have experienced.

I have done 1100 kms (delivery 15 May) and the oil level on the dip stick has gone down 2mm (I checked the level when I took delivery). I know I'm neurotic but what usage might that equate to?

                • From memory, from top to bottom of the cross-hatched (AKA "B") section is about 1/2L. So 2mm would only be about 50-100ml.

                    • Should be about 1 liter from top to bottom of the cross-hatched area, so 2mm should be about 100-150ml, considering that that area is divided in about 13 squares and that one square is about 1mm

Sounds about right, last time i topped up was about that and was a good 150mm.

Actually engines still warm as just got home so might go check it.

BTW anyone got any funky lumpy jumps when it first starts cold? No noise just bouncy.
Few times ive gone to overtake lately and its felt like it looses boost then spools up and changes gear.
Happens between 2-3 gears, run caltex 98 in the car.
                        Maybe TRC?

Mine lumpy at cold starts and recently lumpy even with warm engine at idle. plug in vagcom nv shows anything abnormal. I suspect might be injector issue or the cam positioner issue. Spark plugs are burning healthy with no fouling and light brown in colour.

                              Vagcom? Where and how much?
Is there a reason why it only happens when cold

youll need a hexcan cable from rosstech which comes with vcds software. there are cheap clones available from places like deal extreme but your milage will vary and the software they provide does have viruses and cant be updated (otherwise it will brick the cable)

its' $250US vs $19 aud delivered.
