Tracking Progress on your Polo and Polo GTI

Like many others, we have had a long and frustrating time trying to buy a Polo GTI. We were even within a shove of signing up for a Fabia RS, due for release in March, but, today we walked into our local VW dealer and there was a newly delivered, yesterday, brand spanking silver GTI. We pick it up tomorrow. Also bought a 132 Tiguan. One hell of a Christmas!!!

Nice! Was the GTI spec'd at all or just factory base? The Tiguan is a nice car, unfortunatelly couldnt convince the better half to get one over an IX35...

How much did you pay for the Polo GTI mutare? Have a similar spec but had to endure a 9 month wait.

OK finally the wait is over. Wednesday 9.30 I take delivery flash red 5dr in Brisbane. And 2012 plated also. Will be my first VW and will be a universal upgrade from my 97 festiva I bought brand new. Any tips for driving intensities the first 100k? Or should I just sit back and enjoy?

been AWOL for awhile cause finding the long wait harder whenon the forum then off it, no offense intended

My polo GTI order was 4th June last year with a realistic (cough cough) arrival of Feb this year.
That then changed to April....but our order has only last month moved finally from first base (dlr spec) to ordered (VAG have picked the order up).... this months update is out and still no more movement on our order, so it's got to get through more stages 1 or 2) before production date is allocated.....in other words, the chances of us getting this car in April is looking pretty slim.... hard pill to swallow when an order is 3 mths after mine and production date already known for Jan.

This does seem to indicate it doesn't go by the date you place your order.....ours didn't sit around by the way cause the
cooling off waiver was sneakily placed amongst contract paperwork (found out a few days later) sales manager no longer works at that dealership.....hmm

At this rate,with any luck, you should be getting the next facelifted model

Yours should have the comfortpack/audio upgrade as standard considering the late build date. Did you order them as options?

I hope you get it soon bud. You're a very patient man. I would have cancelled and threatened legal action if they didn't refund the deposit.

VW & VWA have a lot to answer for: VW for over-stretching themselves, and VWA for their poor process management. Someone who orders a car in June should not be further behind someone who orders a car in September regardless of where their dealer is.

LOL, yeah perhaps we are getting in early for the facelift but just didn't know it way back when.... GRR!
Yep, the order does have both comfort/audio pks and when I found out they were going to be standard from Nov builds?, I rang dealership about this and at that stage VAG hadn't released any official pricing notification (dealership said there had been whispers of a slight price increase on the car, unconfirmed) but he said we would be compensated the difference once they knew, so I will be following up on this.

hehe Molotov...make that (wo) man.....very patient, nope not normally.
We were resigned to the fact when ordering it would be between 6-8 mths (that was realistic according to GM) so we erred on the conservative side of 8 mths thinking we were being fairly realistic.

Worst part is we are able to track our order on dealerships website, and have watched it sit idle for 6 mths before moving one notch last month.....we have actually had a pretty rough time with this order with two major stuff ups that I don't want to re hash here.
If we cancelled, I know we would get our small deposit back in full, we even had written into the contract that we could cancel and get a full refund if car wasn't here by April......but after waiting all this time so far, we will try and hang in there to the end....but yeah, it is darn tough when orders aren't allocated according to when they were actually placed made worse because the wait is this long.
Dealership told me the Polo GTI wait has now surpassed the Golf R whereas a few months back they were both fairly even

Would be nice if VAG, VGA were answerable, but doubt they really care whilst demand outstrips supply?

Woohoo just got an email from the dealer about my missus' 77TSI. D.O.B. was 9/1/2012 and he should have some info about the ship some time next week.

Seems like mid-end Feb delivery looks possible!

Take it with a pinch of salt. I went in looking to buy a Polo Gti or a Golf Gti and the guy basically said, "if you order now it's at the same spec level as the ones ordered in Jan/Feb". He showed me the screen as I was sitting down with him at his desk. He was actually using it as a sales pitch ie. "Look you'll end up in the same list as these guys but you're 10 months better off".

What did put me off (and this was only a cursory glance), was the number of cars in that list. I thought the list would be quite small but I guess a lot of people really want this car or were sold on rosy delivery dates (or both).
