I didn't recieve any update until I got a call from the dealer saying that I had a build slot. I think you're being taken for a ride, if it's saying dealer spec, I doubt it's even been entered into Nadcon yet, Dealer spec doesn't even appear on the NADCON status screen, it should at least say what date the contract has been entered. Do you have a Comms number? If you do, that can help through other means....

UM... you guys realise that as soon as you've paid (and the cooling off period of the contact is done in some cases) the car should be entered into NADCON?

NADCON is THE VW ordering/tracking system. So it's entered into NADCON within the first few weeks. "Dealer spec" is a valid status in NADCON. From my understanding "Dealer spec" is where the dealer has been configuring the car (through Order Details > Car Configurator), but the order hasn't been officially submitted to the factory to proceed.
I'm not sure what the situation is with VGA controlling the allocations to dealers, whether a car sits in "dealer spec" indefinitely once they've hit their allocation or whether there is another "code" which VGA assign.

Either way - NADCON is used from the start (as I said, once you've paid your deposit, or once the cooling off period has passed... whatever your dealer is comfortable with/is legal in your state).

After two months with my R order, I didn't have a build date. However, it's getting to the point where I'd be talking to the dealer principal in this case since the dealers should be VERY AWARE of whether they have any allocations left on the Polo GTI this year or not, being that they're so small.

I've been thinking, if those of us lucky enough to be getting our cars built etc in the last couple of weeks, I wonder if this indeed is the "extra build slots" that VGA made available at the start of the year, which would therefore mean it is an order of 30-35 cars, which furthermore would mean that by my reckoning, being all part of one order, that (hopefully, damn I'm sick of that word!) the one order would all be shipped together....
