Is that really a smart move. You live out in the country and really need good high beam. By going to the blueish white the diamond vision and blue vision put out you actually reduce a lot of your light. Personally I would be putting them as the low beam (which is used around the city where there is street lighting) and use some +100 xtreme vision for the highbeams.

Ok I'll be honest i still wouldn't use the xenon lookalike halogen bulbs. I love lights so I retrofitted the OEM Xenons so I could get the most out of my lighting system but its probebly more effort (and cost) than most would want...

hmmmm, interesting.... will keep them in for now and see how it goes, but will keep that in mind...

The stock 3700k that are in there would be just as bright if not slightly brighter. I know philips only have one white bulb that meets the ECE standard and that's the blue vision ultra becuase it uses the burner from the xtreme vision bulb to make more light but the blue 4300k coating takes away light so your left with a bulb putting out a standard amount of lumens but a whiter colour.

The original white bulbs (crysial vision and diamond vision) are off road use only (a nice way of saying illegal) becuase they don't meet the ECE standards for light output.

Also standard halogens are about 3700k, the xtreme vision and 50+ are about 3750-3900k and OEM Xenons are 4300k. The really bright white xenons you see in commodores are usually 6000k and are deemed illegal to some extent - one becuase they emit less light than a standard OEM xenon bulb but mostly because of the glare that is created using them inside reflector housings.

When you are talking halogens, the colour temperature isn't really worth talking about unless you live in the city. the temperature in Kelvin that you are talking about is just marketing hype that the compaines put out there so when people buy these expensive halogen bulbs, they feel like the light is better due to LOOKING like a HID bulb yet the light penetration of the type of light output from a halogon bulb that you get reduces the higher up teh colour spectrum you go. Same as HID in fact but with HID, the optimum colour is ~5000K which can be adjusted with a different ballast over OEM which use the 4300K. 5000K has a little more blue in it but due to the type of light that is being generated from the arc, the effective light range is higher up the colour spectrum. Like a good welding arc produces a nice, bright electric blue light. The latest development which is in the aftermarket now is the Xenonphot bulb which is still like a halogen in that it uses a tungsten filament in a vacuum sealed vessel but it is now filled with a high quality (read almost pure) xexon gas. Due to the properties of xenon as an element, the tungsten filament can be made to burn much hotter and brighter than a standard halogen, resulting in the approach to the higher ranges of the colour spectrum, hence the bluer light of the bulb. This is a much better bulb than any of the tinted halogens because it is pumping out more power without any form of tinting or dying agent which hinders the light performance and also has a longer life because the xenon inside the bulb keeps everything running smoothly even though you are technically asking more from the bulb. Down side? There is only one type of Osram Xenophot available and it isn't made for headlights as it doesn't meet ECE regs.

For lighting performance, you want watts. The higher the wattage, the brighter the light. Be warned however, the higher the wattage, the more heat. The more heat, the weaker the light becomes or if you go too far, melting.

In my experience with vehicles from europe, japan and australia, europeans cannot design a halogen light for Australian roads. They just don't understand the kinds of roads we have and the distances we travel on unlit highways. Plus the hopping 60kg car destroyers that we like to be able to see before it's too late. Without increasing the actual power output of the light, you won't get any difference in beam penetration without changing the reflector which isn't an option.

A quick review of the Weitec GT coilovers after having them for a week:

- Considerably MORE comfortable than the stock over bumps and unsmooth surfaces. No more jarring bumps and bangs. It just follows the road and takes it all in with no problems.
- Much flatter around corners.
- Love the lowered stance, of course

However, I think I'll have to roll the front guards as I'm getting scrubbing with taking uneven corners at speed. I'm not sure if that's going to fix it otherwise may have to raise front up a few mm and see how it goes.

Waiting on a black front VW emblem to match the theme. And will wrap or plastidip the side mirrors black as well.

is there a trick to removing the front windscreen wipers? ive removed the caps and nuts but unless there is something else needed to be done they just dont want to come off. and help is appreciated.

Mine were wedged on very well too. I had to use a gear puller to get them off

It's been ages since I've posted but just fitted a Forge Motorsport Dump Value and had the rear muffler removed.

Almost traded in the car for a 2012 Golf GTI, but the trade-in was terrible so opted for some mods instead.
