I dont think I would contemplate a MY12 when for a few thousand more you can get a current model. Its early days but the new engine seems to be behaving a lot better with regards to oil consumption. I know not all cars have the problem but I wouldnt let VW gamble with my money. And if you arent thinking of keeping it forever, I think the future will say a MY13 CTH engine car will be worth a lot more than MY12. More than the usual 12 months difference.

MY12.5 perhaps. People are getting bloody good deals on 12.5 and 13s; will depend on what the dealer can offer. Fingers crossed.

I have also asked them to swap the GTI floor mats, which I don't like at all, I think they look cheap tbh, with a set of Comfortline mats. I think they're more subtle and refined in appearance

I use to sell VW at the dealership I bought it from and still have a great relationship with the Manager and Dealer Principal so they looked after me

To be fair it includes a lot of mod work, I imagine the custom paint work would be expensive. Personally i'd skip the paint and interior protection but other than that the price is alright.

FYI, the full retail price for a non-metallic 5dr GTI with Sunroof, Alarm & Xenons in SA is $37,490

They're agreeing to fit illegal window tint to the car?! They can lose their license for that! Selling an unroadworthy vehicle in new condition that is also in breach of the vehicle compliance as a new car.

Either a very brave or very stupid salesperson...
