aka Static cornering lights. Gti with Xenons has them integrated with the main headlight housing, other models have them in the fogs

The famous rattle........

I just bought a march 2010 build ex demo TSI 77 dsg, 4 days ago, it has done 7,000kms so far since the dealer got it april 2010.....

I did notice the rattle at idle today coming from the drivers side, under the dash, i wasnt to concerned about it.......I have only just came to learn the common problem with the A/C pipes ETC on this forum......

However....

I did have the car in "N" in my driveway, the first day i got it, had the drivers door open, gave the throttle a bit of a tickle only to 1500rpm, and oh there it was "the rattle".

I thought this was normal as when an engine revs it moves on its mounts slightly.......

Is it possible the engine mounts are too soft and allow a fair degree of engine movement at idle/low rpm..... and at certain engine speeds causes the fuel rails/AC pipes hit against other components/firewall???????

Otherwise i have noticed no other issues apart from slight cough at start up/when cold.

The missus mentioned that her's has started doing the rattle again after having it "fixed" by Essendon VW. But the **** heads down at that service department couldn't complete the paperwork let alone fix a ****ing car.

She's not impressed at all.

This would be the same essondon Vw who when quizzed, said they had no Amaroks yet for people to look at, yet there was one in the showroom and 2 in the yard and when quizzed aout this, the respone was "not for public viewing, only for dedicated buyers..." ?

Well took my car back to the dearler for them to check out the rattle, but wouldn't you know it, the rattle didn't want to show itself during the test drive. I was successful though in getting the rain sensing wipers that have never worked coded in. So not all lost.

See the multiple threads regarding GTI engine bed-in and associated oil usage. Guys in the UK who ran the cars hard as soon as they got them are now experiencing much lower oil consumption after approx 5000kms-10000 kms of usage....

Got the engine oil light on for the first time today on the GTI. Checked the dip stick and it was a bit of an UH OH moment, was right on the lowest reading.

As per instructions put a full litre in. Took the car for a run around the block and the oil light is still on, however the oil reading is now in the right area on the dip stick. Anything to be concerned about?

I was planning on just leaving it for a day or so and if the light still comes up then take it into the dealer.

at how many km's? It's OK for VAG engine use some oil during run in period. Just check it every 500km-1000km.

Just reporting that my GTI is suffering from the same issues as the 118 with a small squeak sound coming out of the engine on a firm press of the accelerator.

Only just appeared after 6000 km and dealer said it was a known issue but no fix has been released.

Wasn't the 118TSI issues sorted out ? I eagerly await to hear if the Polo GTI suffers from the same sound.

Nope, the thread in the MkVI Golf forum is still going with some cars that have had multiple water pump replacements still squealing. If they can't sort it for the Golf, there's no reason to expect that it won't develop in the Polo, either.
