Had another rough idle at startup a couple of days ago and a random drop in revs just sitting at the lights. That and ive had the "rattling noise from behind the dash" which will happen at start up and then disappear as soon as i start driving and wont return for a couple of days.
Think i might take it in for a look see with the rough idle again.2011 VW Polo 77TSI | Manual | Savannah Yellow | Comfort Pack | Sports Pack |

Hey Guys. I have a TSI manual and also have had the same problems, the rattle was fixed with a fuel line replacement and the first time the car was idling rough was fixed with an ECU update. The rough idling has started again though and as of yet they can't find what the problem is. Im going to try switching from BP ultimate to Caltex vortex and see if it makes a difference. I understand they are both 98 but its worth a shot I guess.

Found a boost leak from the supercharger outlet, which needed to be replaced... this is after replacing all the piston rings :/
Bloody thing just keeps getting worse and worse being in the shops for a month.
Anyone in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne with a GTI? I'm still getting a air vacuum squeal sound after the repair and need to compare it with another GTI.

So its just under 2 months now since I handed my car over to VW.
The new...new engine arrived in the country and has been fitted into the car, apparently it has no odd sounds or anything so far and the guys are going over everything to make sure its ok, so i'm crossing everything that I get it back on Monday.
The 1st new engine they gave me when they turned it on struggled to start and had piston slapping and valve timing issues. fun times.2010 Polo GTI 5dr, reflex metallic silver, MDI.

This is a disgrace how a new car is going in for a new engine you would think this sort of issue would pop up during the engine run in stage at the factory/plant.

Missus 77TSI had the engine bay rattle fixed a while back (did take a 2nd dealer to do it because Essendon VW are the most usless ****wits in the history of dealers) and thinking the car would be ok....but no.
@20k she gets and EPC fault on the dash. VCDS shows up this:
11825 - Charge Pressure Control Actuator: Mechanical Malfunction
P334B 00 [032] - Upper Limit Exceeded
Google search says stuff about replacing turbos lol but we'll see what the dealer comes up with. No idea who said VW's were reliable and well built.... I've been back to the dealer more times for my 2 cars in the 12mths than I'd have liked.

Yeah, VW hasn't been reliable since some short Austrian dude with a funny moustache was calling the shots!
Wastegate actuator mate, guy in the UK had exactly the same issue. They just replaced the whole turbo and re-coded the car with a software update (pisses me off that they wait until you ask at the dealerships for it to happen at a service!) which stops the wastegate from operating at idle speeds which causes a rattle in teh wastgeate mechanism or some hoo-ha.
Just build it right in the first place, just like the oil issues and supercharger clutches on the 1.4tsi motor.....sigpic
