So who amongst the R36 owners is considering trading to a Passat RLine 206TSI?
I've almost finished all the upgrades I want to do on mine (awaiting a steering wheel control module to do a steering wheel upgrade) so I'll be holding onto it for a whole yet. But on paper at least they look to be pretty nice, the closest to an R36 replacement we've had yet.

Well, I'm not an R36 owner, but for what it's worth - I agree with you. Hang onto the R36. Definitely!
There is however one B8 R-Line feature that I would love and that's the quick ratio steering rack with 2.1 turns lock to lock. If only I could be sure that the B6 ECU would communicate with the latest steering control module. I suspect not.

I have a B7 V6 Highline so bar a few things much the same car to the B6 R36. I am most definitely considering the 206 Tsi R-line.

I have been looking at the new A4 2.0 Tsi Quattro but for all the kit I want it will be approx. $90,000 on road... Madness....! The 206 Tsi Passat will have near all the same features as standard (+more power than the A4) for approx $65,000 on road if you include extended warranty & service plan. Not to difficult a decision really.

For an enthusiast, it's an easy choice, keep the R36. If you're someone just looking for a nice sporty daily, it would be a nice upgrade.

          I have a B7 V6. The currently shortlist is 2016 Q7.

Looks like more of a side-grade coming from an R36 (rather than an outright upgrade). Pretty bland looking to be honest.

I actually think it looks great, it's just not as cool as a true Passat R could be. With the RS3 engine or something like that, oh man.

I intend to hold onto my R36 for a few more years, but the 206TSI could be a replacement down the track. There aren't that many sporty wagons (as opposed to sporty SUVs) on the market. With a Mk7 Golf in the family I can see the appeal of the extra refinement that the MQB platform gives the B8 Passat.

                Maybe I'm just getting old...
