Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Snerlo, I'll try giving it a bit of a run around and see if it makes any difference. It seems to only be coming from the front.
It's weird that it makes the sound without braking, and the moment I brake, it goes away :\.Biscay Blue Volkswagen R36 MY09

Don't the brakes come on gently for a couple of seconds automatically after you start going to wash water/snow of the rotors or something?

It's probably the pads themselves making the noise.
Do try giving it a few good hard stops, and see how you go.
Brake wiping works in conjunction with the rain/light sensor from memory. So if it thinks there's rain, the ABS will pulse to give the brakes a quick skim.'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI

Hi guys,
I seem to be having trouble tracking down the dimensions and size of the front and rear rotors on theR36.
Are they just the same as any other V6 highline?
There is company in the USA where I get my pads and rotors , for my Jetta and Reg, awesome, huge life, almost no dust, and great stopping power.
But for some reason the R 36 seems be unknown to these guys in the USA and our VINs don't work there coz we use ZZZZs and they use that space for model options.
Anyway, if anyone can post a spec , diameter, PCD, thickness or even an equivalent model ( like the v6 highline)
I'd really appreciate it , coz my R36 will be due for a set of pads and rotors all round, and I love the ceramic pads I get from Stoptec in the US.R36 | Biscay Blue, Jetta V GT (Golf GTi with a boot really), Touareg T5 Luxury (300,000 K's and going strong)

Have you tried looking in some of the other manufacturers catalogues and giving Stoptech those partnos to find the equivalents? That might work.

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
