PCB is nearly at the end of the design phase.

Features!
- 3 CAN Bus interfaces, one capable of CAN FD, selectable termination resistors, filtering and EMC that should match the OEM gateway.
- 2 LIN Bus interfaces
- Selectable MCU, Teensy 4.1 or Rasberry Pi Pico
- TVS surge protection.
- VW OEM Gateway connector, pin compatible with the gateway (Not that I could write a replacement gateway software). This is designed to supplement the original gateway.

Correct, it will be a platform to do many mods on, both LIN and CAN bus, future versions may even have high side switches( eg open exhaust valve while in sports DCC mode)

Hoping it can lead to some more MQB gear running in the PQ platform. But could be used for anything really, not even limited to VAG group cars.

Once I clean it up after prototyping I will open source the hardware.

Wanted to see what the new logo looked like on the B7; it's 100% mechanically the same, so an easy swap. The part number is 5H0853630ADPJ is anyone else wants to try.

No posts in a while; let's catch up with the new year. Happy new year VW fans!


1. Currently testing the rear climate control out of the VW Magotan (Chinese B7 that had a longer production run); if I can get the setup working, new trim with be needed for the armrest to complete it; this also adds the ability for rear heated seats.


2. Passenger side mirror has been swapped to a euro driver's side mirror; this adds dimming and an aspherical blind spot edge.

3. CAN reserve engineering is coming along; I now have a bench setup with an MQB BCM and ambient lighting to test with.

4. New BCM is in; rain closing now works (3AA 937 087 R).

5. Wheel logo caps are here, fit but a bit too loose for my liking; a shim needs to added to the old rims to keep it in place.


To come still,

Possible DQ500 swap, still in the research phase.
Seats out of a CC to add heated rear seats and maybe front air-conditioned seats?
Custom CAN gateway for more MQB goodies.

Rear climate control and heated seats are in, also installed the 230v invertor, with all this stuff added will probably need the 180A alternator next



In other news, I've completed the valve cover gasket replacement and PCV valve upgrade. While I had everything open, I took the opportunity to inspect the intake valves. Now I'm in the process of gathering the necessary equipment for a thorough walnut blasting

Service position time



Did not need to buy a T10093 Bunnings M10 x 120mm bolt does the trick for $3, this allows you to pull the front carrier forward to have access to the engine without draining the coolant \ AC system.

The dam injectors pulled out with the block when I removed the lower fuel rail; BTW erwin is incorrect; you do not need to remove the HPFP when doing this service; only a 17mm flare nut spanner is needed.

So while I waited to have the injectors resealed, a 180A alternator was installed, and I found that my washer pump was leaking, so replaced that too.

Wow, I am amazed that this pump was still working; it must have leaked and flooded the poor motor.

Have you logged timing pull before and after the clean?
I'm hoping it will help with this as mine is pretty aggressively pulling timing (10 degrees) at the moment.
