Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mine does the same thing 2014 cc and now the camera hardly works anytime. I am trying to find the Vagcom codes to reinstall on the head unit.

Not game enough to do a firmware update I have downloaded iso file ready too do, But as I don't have the original GPS map DVD lost it when I moved from Qld. I do have a Sensis map update but I am not sure if the update is also a full version If I needed to reinstall the Nav software.

          Hello XXX-1.8T,

          It’s a simple RGB camera.
If you don’t have a moving guide lines, there is no camera control unit, which means its directly connected to RCD or RNS.

Its would simply pay off just to pull out and check connection near camera end, as sometimes water might get in there or a simple loose connection.

I believe, some vehicles fitted with camera control unit that take the signal to controller and overlay the moving guided lines and take signal back to radio. I believe that unit is fitted in somewhere in the boot as well.

Or other possibility might be your RCD or RNS have hard reset itself and lost its coding and confused itself.

          Las

            Hi Las

When the camera is working the lines are there all is working fine.

When this error pops up it doesnt let you access the camera at all.

Its very random so could be something in the boot affecting it.

How do you access the camera to check wiring etc?

Update, I have updated the firmware on my RNS510 reinstalled my updated GPS map and done a hard reset, I have also removed the head unit ( to check the plugs) and also removed the boot lining to check for wire damage, But iam still getting the same error codes when I vcds scan so no rear camera.

Looks like it's the camera itself.
Cheapest part of the system to replace and quite straight forward.
Just need to remove the boot interior trim and undo the 2 bolts holding the camera in place.
You can even get away with just buying an aftermarket boot release button camera on the cheap.
