    Got my car back today
Standing start is much smoother now a bit like a torque converter even
nice and elastic off the line.
I can't believe I put up with that jerkiness...

Very weak 2nd gear lurching is still there but it's not too bad so I'm happy.
they have also replaced Exhaust sensor for some reason saying that it was faulty

Anyway if anyone wants to test DSG jerk on their car with me I can help
    just leave message here.

        Was there any other symptoms?

nope, no other symptoms....noticed oil where oil shouldn't be when i was changing my wheels around...I brought my service forward to have it looked at, and that was the diagnosis...it was and is driving fine....

even they cant work out what causing the trouble except to suggest up grade all the software , which did nothing so now i;m waiting again to hear back from Germany as to what the next step is, The dealer said his hands are tied and can only do warranty work with VWA approval.
Barloworld has told me no one has ever seen what my car is showing on the VAG unit and doesn't know what to do , said i might have to leave my car with them for a week for further investigation and no loan car because its a warranty job .
I went a different route and contacted VWA direct with a long letter through their web page, with in 4 days they rang and asked me to explain exactly what the problem was ,They were very polite and so was i and a few days latter i received a phone call tell me that a new
mechatronics unit was now waiting Barlo's ready to be in stalled, Well it didn't fix the problem and then VWA they gave the go ahead for a new complete gearbox which fixed the jerky take off and illuminated all the fault codes.

Always been jerky, software fixes and replacing mechatronics haven't solved it, so in for another round.

I had the dealer look at mine during it's 15K service recently... of course they said they couldn't find anything wrong, but the reset the gearbox anyway. Sadly it hasn't resolved anything.. the stutter is still there, sometimes worse than before, sometimes better. The thing is I can't reproduce it on demand.. so how do I prove to the dealer there is a problem?

I love my passat, but the gearbox is giving me the ****s! I certainly won't be buying another car with a DSG gearbox, nice idea, poor implementation.

Hi V6FSI, is your car a 2010 model? and the stutter you talk of is it when it changes gear from 1st to 2nd or when you take off from standstill? I ask this as I have had the same issues with my V6 wagon from new.

Yes and Yes! The stutter on my car is from a standing start (forward and reverse), and between 1st & 2nd, and betwee 2nd & 3rd. One thing I've come to realise in the last few days, is that it is worse if I'm turning, so for example if I'm at an intersection and turn into it. Also sometimes it kangaroo hops like a manual in first gear.

When I took it to the dealer last time, I noted the km's before I left the car, they test drove it for a sum total of 2km (so just around the block), no where near enough to reproduce an intermittent fault. I'm going back to the dealer next week and I will be insisting on taking the service manager for a decent drive!

                          Try this approach

My Caddy now has a new DSG, after taking it to a different dealer from where I bought it from, who's handling of the situation leaves a lot to be desired...
New DSG, big improvement, although it still has little hicups every now an then.....
I too wont buy another vehicle with DSG and will trade this one in before warranty ends....

I'm onto my 3rd Passat, 1 x V6 FSI and then 2 x R36's and never had any issues with DSG. We also had a Caddy for work and it performed faultlessly, too. I guess you have just been unlucky.

although this is my first DSG, I have too mates that have had DSG's in GTI's and R36. All been driven v hard, and they've never had a problem with them either.

My previous boss had the mechatronics replaced x 2 and the whole gearbox x 1 on his DSG 118TSI Mk6 Golf .....

We have the new 7spd 550NM DSG box on the MV and on average once a week gets a bad gearchange .... sounds just like a fluffed manual gearchange with horrible grating as it changes .... not heard anybody have that before, so at it 15000k m service in 2000km will have it checked out. Lucky have a 6yr warranty so will be claiming lots from VW every time it breaks. For me it is a case of when not if ....

Needless to say with 1 possible exception (and only because no manual MV exists) this will be our only VW DSG ever ....
