The car should have been on a ship and docked in Australia by now (or very close to) for delivery on March 22nd. Something is not right.

As for the the reverse Camera. I ordered the camera but the box wasn't ticked on the order. Try as hard as you can to get it factory fitted. There is no OEM solution for my Wagon that I can find.

    Good luck.
Yes,I can't help but feel a little suspicious about the situation. With regards to the reversing camera, If you look through my previous threads, I found a place in Melbourne that sells OEM reversing cameras and has a list of fitters for most states.

I think the issue of a loan car might be worth taking up with VWA itself. If the dealer themselves won't help you out and with the information that you've told us " Private Fleet have stayed in regular contact advising that the delivery date was on track as per advice. I received an email last Wednesday advising that the 22Mar10 was still good. I'd even received a call from the dealers aftermarket department asking if I required window tinting for my car on the same day!" then i reckon you sold your car with the knowledge and understanding you'd be receiving your new car on the expected date, due to correspondence from the dealership and Private Fleet. My only issue is if Private Fleet were giving you the proper info the whole time. Something that says they were is the dealership aftermarket dept ringing you about window tints.

I hope this gets sorted for you and on another note, how does VW run out of VR6 engines?????

      Good luck mate.

      Cheers,

      Jayse.
      Hi Jayse,

Yes,it does seem rather extraordinairy that a major vehicle manufacturer can run out of engines?!?!

I've been away with work this week, now i'm back i'm going to chase a few people up and try and work out what's actually happened. I emailed VWA last week, still no response from them.

Will keep everyone in the loop as too what eventuates.

      Cheers,

      Dr Block

I ordered an R36 from a Melbourne Dealer this past Christmas.

I have been recently advised that I will receive it in August / September.

I would very surprised if both of ours aren't delivered around the same time as there is so many production cycles and shipments every year.
Was that your original delivery date?

Solution? I took my business elsewhere who had the car on the spot Just take your private fleet paperwork into a dealer & ask them to honor it.
          It's certainly an option.

Order AND build date (in Germany) was circa September 2009 and delivery was mid December 2010. I didn't have to ring them even once. You can't get better than that!

Having said all of that - and its probably easy to say given I have my car now - I think half the fun in ordering a new car is the waiting time.

Best advice that I have is take it easy and relax. The dealer wants their money. I'm sure they are eager to deliver your car to you.

If you haven't sold your old car yet, take advantage of the extra time and (subject to your contract) see whether you can sell it privately (I got an extra $4K on my car by NOT trading it in - paid for a few tasty options).

If you have sold your car and really need a car, then I feel that you SHOULD approach your dealer to see whether they/VW can lend you a car from the date that you EXPECTED deliver till the date you actually get it. Even if they refuse to supply you a car for free, you should at least be able to negotiate a loan car at a substantially reduced cost (they want your repeat business after all don't they?).

Oh yea, and like I said. Relax. Time will pass and you will have your new toy soon enough
I did sell my car privately as the trade in quoted was stupidly low. Got an extra $14,000 privately.

The issue for me is being informed less than 2 weeks from delivery date that your car hasn't even been built then having the dealership refuse a loan car.

I can assure you that I shall certainly enjoy the car when I finally get the bloody thing!

Possibly because when I ordered the car I put a firm delivery date on the purchase contract and told them very clearly that I needed the car by that date, or a loan car. In the end you bought through Private Fleet, so depending on what you told them when you ordered the car I would put pressure on them to organise either the Dealer or something else. Remember the saying about the squeaking wheel....... if you don't make a lot of noise then any loaners available will likely go to the person that makes more noise than you do! These guys should have enough contacts in the industry to organise a car for you. Another option is to tell 'm that you are happy to accept one of their trade-ins, as that might be easier to organise than a Demo. A lot of Staff in Dealerships grab a trade-in to drive around in when they loan Demo's to Customers.

              Good luck
The delivery date was supplied too me by Privatefleet after the order ws confirmed. I shall definitely be talking too them next week about enlisting there help in organising a loan car.

Anyway, when I found out that the car was going to be late and like yourself have already sold my car I asked for a loaner. They refused, so I basically threatened to put out of the contract. Immediately thereafter, they delivered the loaner to my work. I supposed I had grounds to terminate the contract.

I recently bought an X5 for the missues and requested for a loaner too. Initially they refused but because the loaner was discussed during the deal, I reminded them of that and they finally loan us an X5 for 3.5 weeks.

So moral of the story, don't accept No for the answer. There are plenty of cars in the yard, its just a matter of applying some pressure on them. Good luck!
That's a concern for me as well regarding wrong or missing options. If that happens i'm going too go thermonuclear!! lol

When i purchased my Lexus i had a loan car for 4 weeks during the bridging period of selling my car and receiving my Lexus.

I had trouble with my order back in September last year ... similar story (I posted it somewhere else in this forum) with promises of the car having been shipped, unable to provide VIN, extraordinary delays, being told it hadn't been shipped yet months later, etc. I even negotiated a loan car into the contract (ie. in the event that the dealer was unable to deliver the car by date x, then they would supply a similar vehicle for the duration until delivered), but it made no difference. Delays persisted, and the dealer refused to supply a loan car as per the contract. When I pushed, the dealer simply told me that I was welcome to cancel my order. They really didn't give a toss. By that time, I'd already invested several months into waiting for the car to arrive, so just stuck it out. Thought about cancelling the order on principle. Ended up firing inflammatory emails all over the place, which got some attention and offers to make the situation better. All in all, not a good experience. I can only say that it all fades into the background once you're behind the wheel. I've had the car for 3 months now, and love it.

The difference here is that both bmw and lexus have a way better attitude to the the customer ( which of course you do pay for)

i wouldn't like to hold my breath and turn blue in the face for the loaner- but good luck anyway!
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

I'm hearing you there...although my R36 is pretty much the same price that I paid for my Lexus after I ticked a few of the ubiquitous VW option boxes.

Not gonna hold my breath for the loaner as I know I'll pass out before I see it! lol

I did but that doesn't answer my question. How can anyone think anything is due at a certain time unless there's something official?

The dealer I spoke to agreed that it would be "Due" about the middle of next year, this was the sales manager at a melbourne dealer. Like I have said previously, take from that what you will, if you want to be pedantic about everything then go ahead, I don't see the need.

To answer YOUR question, quite easily, it is my opinion,I think it is due then, it has also been agreed by the person noted above, and to use your words as stated many times on this forum, I don't care if you don't think it is due because there is no official release or details about it.

                            Dr Block,

My delivery date was June 2010, allowing the dealer 6 months. But I was semi aware that due to the GFC, production dates would be thrown out of whack.

I think we will be very fortunate if we receive our cars before September.
