I should laugh! I just re opened my remaining FOB and it has the following
HLO 3C0 959 725 AL
HELLA 434 Mhz
5FA 009 066-10
Might be worth others checking theirs and we can build up a list of known compatible units.
In the mean time going to chase up the listed "AL" unit on that well known auction siteMY12 Volvo V60 T5 Tekink in Ice WhiteMY08 125Kw TDI DSG Wagon in Mocca (02/08 - 03/12)

Had to drop into the dealership for a minor trim problem so I asked about the FOB replacement. The parts guy is adamant that the FOB is VIN specific..
The service rep who looked after me said he had not dealt with a late mode Passat FOB replacement yet.
Perhaps I should have spoken to a service guy who has actually done a FOB program/pairing...MY12 Volvo V60 T5 Tekink in Ice WhiteMY08 125Kw TDI DSG Wagon in Mocca (02/08 - 03/12)

Got my new FOB today. Ordered it Tuesday last week and was called Friday to say it was in...
I went by the dealer and they did the programming while I waited. I was there about an hour. They did not charge me for the programming so all up it was $482.
The new FOB is a satin chrome and TBH I reckon it looks much nicer than the polished chrome.MY12 Volvo V60 T5 Tekink in Ice WhiteMY08 125Kw TDI DSG Wagon in Mocca (02/08 - 03/12)

Hi all,
Bought a 3C0 959 752BA online, 434Mhz, 48ID chip.
Through a friend went to VW dealership they said the 'online' device had the wrong frequency for Australia.
Back at office opened up my existing remote and kapow - same same - 3C0 959 752BA, 434Mhz!
Does the chip ie ID 48 or ID 46 affect the frequency at all as i would have thought if it is 434MHz that's that's the frequency and that's it - or is VW trying to make me buy an expensive OEM version and pay full tote for the programming etc?
Any thoughts?

The transponder and the remote are separate so the transponder chip does not affect the frequency. However the dealer CAN NOT program this key. When the keys are ordered though the dealer network the new key is pre-coded for your car and can only be coded to your car, as you have bought an aftermarket key it does not have the pre-coding on it, so through the dealer it will never work.
