Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rear Indicator Globe???

Vehicle: 2009 VW Passat CC 2.0L TDI

Just came down the Great Ocean Road and noticed the rear indicator globe has gone.

It's an Osram 5009 RY10W amber bayonet globe.

Thing is, I can't find anyone who stocks them - can't even find an equivalent!

Not too fussed re brand, and if there's an LED equivalent available, then that's fine!

Is there anything available in Melbourne? Not too keen on waiting forever for an eBay order to arrive.

Had a look at Supercheap, Autobarn and Repco sites with no luck.

    Got a VW specialist nearby?

Or plan B a VW or Audi dealership will likely have some, even if it's two or three times the price, it's probably worth it if you can just walk out with one and be done. It's not like you're replacing them all the time.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Okay, took your advice and checked South Yarra dealer - $9.95 for Osram 5009 RY10W globe and in stock! Did check with one other VW dealer and they said they didn't have any in stock and would have to order it in. Back in Melbourne, so will get one tomorrow from South Yarra! Good price! I can get a pack of 2 genuine Osram globes from China (eBay) for $15 delivered, but may not arrive until end-Jan 2021!

I guess dealerships are not all bad news!!!

Osram contacted me via email and they said their distributor in Australia is Wesfil (believe they are part of GUD Holdings, which includes Ryco). Anyway, Wesfil in Melbourne said to contact Bursons - their stockists. Contacted local Bursons store and they said they don't stock Osram.

Anyway, ended up getting two globes from Kevin Dennis VW in Deer Park (driving past) - $15 for the two!
