Wastegate rattle can now be fixed!

Is this happening to MY12 as well?

I had the rattle fixed on my My12 132 pacific.
I could hear mine on freeway, 2500 -3000 rpm mild throttle load.
Hard to notice when you have it, but so quiet once it's fixed.

Yes it is. Mine is a 2012 model and i have the rattle.

From about 2200 to 3000rpm you will hear it. It almost sounds like the turbo spoiling up in a really bad way lol

The fix quietens it down a lot but is more muted than fixed.

You may need to get your service advior to come for a test drive or they may just book it in for the fix.

My 155 (only 3 days old) has it. It's an MY13. You would think that if they have known about the problem for 2 years, then they would address it. Oh well, I'll try and get them to address it on the 1000km checkup.

As above, girlfriends brand new 132 has it. My 4 month old GTI has the same issue (now fixed though). Poor effort they haven't fixed it from the factory.

I think because it's a resonance issue it seems to only affect some cars. Probably the number of complaints doesn't justify making it a fixture for all cars.

They test drive them during PD dont they? Surely their PD guys would pick up on it and get it fixed before they hand the car over.

Well I booked in for my 1000km checkup and mentioned it and they were very good about it. They acknowledged that it is a fairly common thing and apologised that they didn't pick it up during PD. They don't have a loan car for when I take it in on Monday but the sales guy has arranged to give me someones work car while it gets done. I'll post up about my overall experience once it's done.

Dealer did mine in a morning, dropped it off at 8 picked it up at 12. Everything went smoothly. They didn't have a loan car so the sales guy leant me his car and all was well. Interestingly enough his Tiguan had the same issue (132 Pacific w 2500kms on the clock).

I can confirm that the rattle is now either super faint or non-existent. It's hard to tell when the car already makes a fair bit of turbo/induction noise. Either way, it's 100 times better

Great they sorted you out, dont for one second though think that the car they gave you to use isnt a loaner.
All sales people drive company cars, its a sure bet when that car you were driving hits 4 or 5 thou, its going in their "demonstrators for sale" list.
Annoying they try & make out as if they are doing you a favour when in reality they are not.

I know that it's not their own personal car, but it's the one the guy clearly used to commute in regularly given that various personal items were left in the car. Either way, I was told by service that it was a big NO for a loaner for weeks and the sales guy sorted it in minutes. Small things can go a long way.

Picked up my new Tig today. No wastegate rattle thankfully! Fingers crossed it doesn't show up soon (only done 100km )

Dumb question but does this same thing happen is the Octavia vrs 147 TSI as I just have done 1000kms and notice a really annoying slight rattle noise as boost just comes on at around 2000rpms.

Yep sounds like you've probably got it too.

I think the VRS has very similar mechanicals to Tiguan and GTI as they all share the same motor.

Take it back to the dealer and tell them that you need the waste gate clip fix for the rattle.

It's especially noticeable under load.
