Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Are you sure that's not a US price list? The x23d is already 57k

That IS the US price list, hence my emoticon.

              Mate just bought one!

Word of warning ... if you thought the boot in the Tig was small.

The Q3 boot is even worse IMO.

Whilst it may be bigger on paper, but in real life it's not very wide at all.

It can't even fit a standard Maclaren stroller straight across the boot and has to be laid on an angle.

Definitely not a very practical car if you have kids.

The Q3 is just too similar to the Tig, with practically the same engines and transmissions. That $10K premium may buy you a bit more style, but you'll also lose the rear seat flexibility and space that makes the Tig appealing.

The X1, on the other hand, is a different proposition altogether. There are some truly compelling engine choices (such as the 150kW 2.0L biturbo diesel or the silky smooth 160kW 3.0L straight six) mated to a drivetrain with RWD bias. I was seriously considering one, but the low ride height and lack of Servotronic option in our local models meant that it won't have the seal of approval from my missus.

Thanks for that Aussietig. I have yet to see one in the flesh as thre are no Audi dealers nearby. I was quite keen on the 2wd diesel model but was having great difficulty justifing the extra 10k over the std 103TDI 4wd Tiguan. I think Audi and BMW need to take a reality check on their prices. They are just ripping us off when compared to Europe and the US. They are even cheaper across the ditch in NZ than here.

The BMW dealer in Brisbane said I could order a manual 3 series but there would be no reduction in price! Really annoyed about that
