Because I own it and love it and so do the rest of the guys in this Tiguan Forum. How well received would someone be if they came into the Golf forum and told everyone they drive an ugly car? You really aren't very smart are you?
You are entitled to love it, want to marry it, even kiss it. I don't give a **** if someone told me I drive an ugly car, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people think that the AMC Pacer is a nice looking car, personally I hate it. Do you like the AMC Pacer Pullstarter?

Look guys, we are getting off topic, this isn't fair to Sharkie's thread.
I personally think the Tiguan is an ugly car, except for the MILF's getting out of them. I wouldn't be spending the $12k+ on this car, i'd probably sell this off and buy a performance car, ready from the factory. Tig's are still damn popular and I'm sure you would have no problems selling it.
Just about any car can be made fast, and to handle given time and money, you're just showing your ignorance and prejudice.
I disagree physics say some cars cannot be made fast (for a reasonable amount of money), spending 20K on a 40K Soft Roader to get it on par with a standard hot hatch around a race track is amusing. You are already disadvantaged, much the same with the GTI it will cost alot more to get quick times out of at a track than an STI or Evo (much less than with the Tig).
I dont think the GTI is the best car in the world (or that the Tig is the worst), but cars are designed with a specific purpose and the GTI was designed with one much closer to being sporty. Its great you love your car, its ticked all the boxes for you, but dont attack someone who puts their requested opinion (as a forum member) up just because you dont agree with it (Sharkies question was only posed to Tig drivers, he should have specified that), the reality is if Sharkie wants to go to the track it is a no brainer he buys a Porsche or something more sporting orientated, as he will soon find out after pooring thousands into a loosing duck that he would have been better off following another path, take your rose coloured glasses off, look at the question posed and ask your self what would you take to the track if you were in his position a Porsche or a Tig.
I'd buy a car that's designed and built to be driven over a car that's designed and built to get the family from point A to point B. Throwing 12k at a Tiguan is like polishing a turd. Sure it's all nice and shiny but it's still a turd.
I am going to get flamed here, but oh well. I wouldn't waste that sort of money on mods on a Tig. When I see them I just laugh, they remind me of a Golf that has driven into a mushroom in Super Mario Bros and has grown bigger.
but dont attack someone who puts their requested opinion (as a forum member)
People shouldn't have attacked Tiguan drivers first. While every person is entitled to an opinion, it is not polite to dig in to people because they see the world differently.
If someone wants to say 'buy a GTI' then say 'buy a GTI'. Not 'buy a GTI and everyone else that doesn't drive a GTI is deformed and I want to f*ck their wife'.
And seriously, if someone brings my wife into the argument, you have to answer to her first. She drives a Forester with an ECB bullbar. She doesn't give a f*ck about the paint. The GTI might be quicker. Until it is parked outside the supermarket...

Captain Bungers, it's under control, infractions were issued to all offenders. I wish that discussion could go on without the insults. I will not delete any post from here since there are a lot of valid points on both sides. But no insults will be tolerated.
Throwing 12k at a Tiguan is like polishing a turd. Sure it's all nice and shiny but it's still a turd.
that's an interesting thought, but then 12k is nothing these days. 12k only gets you a few extras like satnav, sunroof and leather seats - and lots of people spend that without batting an eye. So for the same money, I think sharkies performance upgrade is very reasonable. But still wouldn't make it a track contender any more than a GTI is a track contender - JMO though.
Seriously, I don't think anyone would argue a Tig on the track v a porsche - even if it is a boxster!
I wish my car (with about 50 or 60kw less at the wheels than Deans and lacking an LSD) hadn't been written of,f as I have no doubt it would embarass your Tig and any other person (very substantially) out there living in lala land thinking they brought a Cheap AWD 2.0T "performance car" which will dominate should they go down the standard 2.0T modding path.
I've had all kinds of modded FWDs try to take on the Tig .... even a mates Stg2 Mk5 GTI is no match for the Tig up to a 100 ...... and we've had few goes at it ..... so unless your car was Stg2+ 2.0T VW, you would have cried in your soup about a softroader sticking it to you ..... no offence, but it amazes me how little some people know about what some cars can and cannot do.
Unless, you've actually driven a 200+kw Tiguan, you know nothing about how it compares to other cars out there .... don't just judge the book by its cover. A Tig is essentially a Golf R underneath .... same mechanicals, just a newer engine in a slightly larger body with a higher COG .....
My GTI spent about 300kms (about 200laps) at a track .... out of 30000km before I sold it ... so the percentage on that is 0.01% and I'm problaby 1 of the 1% of GTI drivers that actually went to a track ....
So no track comparisons of Tig V GTI please .... neither are meant for it and how much better the 1 is than the other for that 0.01% means nothing to me.
The Porsche will go to the track 20-30% of its total kms I suspect ....
By spending the actually small amount of $12K as clip puts it, the Tig will become 1 of the ultimate Q-cars .... 0-100 in less than 5s .... in a small SUV body .... that alone makes me want to do it ..... but I'm aching to go the other way ....
Cayman S + turbo = 300+kw ...... .....

If I could afford it, I would have a Golf R and a Tig. Both great cars for the purpose they were deisigned/marketed for.
That was the plan until VW and my wife conspired against me and threw all my carefully laid plans out the window ....

Yes, about there .... MK6 GTI with K04 and bits making that right now ..... well over 200kw atw .... I've seen the dyno printout

Why would any one want AWD on asphalt??? Sic.
I still chuckle about the narrow view about what the definition of a sports car is for some.
Cayman +turbo would be a supprise Q-package for a whole different audience...and upset the delecate marketing placment conjured by the 'maker'.
Convertables leave the occupants too vulnerable in case of an acco, too unsecure when unattended & and are too pretentious for my tastes.
And with the 2WD car you may struggle for traction in some situations.
AWD is safer in wet, snow and even a little bit of unexpected mud on the road just around that sharp bend you took a bit faster than normal could mean a trip to the crash shop on the tow track or even something worst for you in a 2WD car.

$60k flat drive away........
There you go, $60k on a fully featured TDI (nice car BTW), but substantially more than what sharkie's "painted turd" mods would cost. And a low 5's - the ultimate sleeper!
My point being that spending $12k on that level of performance upgrade is really very little in the scheme of things VAG (or BMW for that matter).
or the Audi 4.2 V8, then you get the go and the note to go with it, which is the main thing the Tig is missing in my view
My neighbour ( a toyota marketing bigwig ) pulled into his drive last night in a new FJ Cruiser, V8, with an awesome lumpy-cam idle making an impressive sound... (i doubt factory) Went home after a quick peek feeling more than a little aroused...
Are you allowed to say 'aroused' here? Or Toyota??
