Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Weather forecast (for what it's worth) seems to say cloudy/maybe sprinkles on Sunday but dry and sunny on Sat and Mon. Reckon it looks good.

I won't be able to make it this sunday unfortunately.
I was actually up there last weekend though - unplanned I was going through a canyon near Mt Tomah but then we changed plan and did one in the Newnes Plateau.
We took the road from Zig Zag Railway right up to the Rocky Creek car park. The main dirt road has recently been graded so we were comfortably cruising at 80-100 most of the way.
Then the Rocky Creek Road is narrow and rougher with heaps of water humps which was fun. Tiggy took it all quote well, the only rattle coming from the water bottle in the door and the stuff bouncing around in the boot.
There are so many roads up there to muck about on, you may not even feel the need to go all the way down to Newnes, if you stay on the plateau its a much shorter drive home.

Definitely considering the bash plate now...

Also, I tried a new route getting up to ZigZag and it was great - take M4 or M2 depending where you are, then M7 turning off at Richmond Road. This goes straight through to Richmond and is 80km/h most of the way with only a couple of lights at either end.

On the way back we ended up in Blackheath for lunch, I went home Bells line of Road and the way descibed about, my friend just went straight down the mountains. I got back around the same time as him but had a much nicer drive!
