  • Second day out for all Tig in Sydney area?

I think it's time to have all Tig get together

Anyone interesting in a day out? Any suggestion where we can go, track that we can try...etc

Please feel free to add you comment

Arctra, you seem to know a lot track near Sydney that we can do with our Tig. Please organise another day out

    Trek To Newnes

I think we can do this one in a day trip easy.

Starting in Zig Zag Railway @ Lithgow and go to Glow-worm Tunnel, then use Blackfellows Hand Trail to go to Newnes

Hehe, yeah, I’ve been debating how long to wait till the next one. I think Chris also suggested the Newnes Plateau / Zigzag Railway, and I think it’s a good option too. Never been that way, but it’s in my book (4WD Treks Close to Sydney) and rated as softroader friendly. Stats:

      - Start is 150km’s from Sydney
      - Trek is about 55k’s long
      - Begins on Bells Line of Road at the Zigzag Railway, goes to the Lost City pagoda rocks and glow worm tunnel, then goes along the Blackfellows Hand trail to Wolgan Road.
      - Generally easy gravel roads, but a couple of short steep sections on Blackfellows Hand Trail.

I’m up for it. I would prefer a Sunday trip as I play hockey on Saturdays. Anyone have any suggestions on when they would like to go? Hopefully I’ll have my skid plate fitted by then

Yeah, I'd been there a few year ago with my Kluger. The drive was pretty easy... just gravel and then around Blackfellow Hand Trail just a bit bumpy... which will be fun for all of us...

Let work on the day and the number...

Can't do Sunday. It's my daughter's birthday. Any other day will do me

I am provisionally in for either Saturday or Monday. Would probably prefer Monday.

I may be keen for the saturday, I just have to check with the boss though.

Monday might not be a good idea with all the long weekend return traffic in the afternoon.

I've not been along Blackfellows Hand trail for a couple of years now, but there was a section that was pretty steep and chewed out. I had to use low range and quite a bit of momentum in the Cruiser to get up. If you going from ZigZag to Newnes it's downhill so it might be do-able for a Tig with Hill descent, etc and careful wheel placement and some possible road building.

It's a great drive very scenic, and the Blackfellows Hand cave is interesting too.

Don't be put off, you could always try it and turn round if you think it's too hard it's still a great drive. It could have been graded/dozed but I doubt it.

In that area and definitely doable in the Tig is the glow worm tunnel (bring a torch and decent boots and the Lost City

I'm taking the Tig down to Thredbo at Easter for its first big road trip, hope I can drive slow enough not get pinged

                        Cheers

Yes, we'll go to Glow-worms tunnel first and then back track to the beginning of Blackfellows hand trail and heading to Newnes, it's will be downhill.

All we have to do is watch where we place our wheels

yeah I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it. As long as you're not going to lead me astray and do something nasty to my nice shiny new tig!
