  • Tiguan downpipes / full exhausts

    Ladies & gent's,

We have made the decision to go to step 1 on the production high flow, divorced wastegate 200 cell metal cat downpipes for the Tiguan.

It will be based on this system:

I will require a Brisbane based car for two full days of testing & Jig manufacture - The owner of this car will be entitled to a downpipe / full system for a hugely discounted price!

Is there any interest in a full system for this car? - In stainless steel, we are looking at ~ $3800 for a full system.

Please send me a PM or post in here

              Yes, yes it does

Is there really such an advantage to the divorced system compared to the average run of the mill DP?

Normal single pipe DP will not fit the Tiguan. The driveshaft to the rear is in the way. Divorced is the only way to get a DP to fit .... .... makes it expensive compared to the single pipe as well .....

BUT ... there is an easy 3-5kw atw extra in the divorced pipe ... less turbulence and better flow of the exhaust gasses ....

Hmmm, not sure if i will go with this one.
You will have to let us know how it goes Johan.

Seems like a lot of cost for only a small benefit.
But then again, the Carbonio is expensive as well and provides only a little more power doesn't it??? (assume 5-10kw atw?)

Divorced DP will get us 12-15kw atw ... so with Carbonio and the DP I'm expecting to see around 170kw atw ..... 210kw on the motor which is the target I'm after .....

                      Sounds like a good idea.
Hopefully it makes a noticeable increase in both power and enjoyability.

I will probably just stick with the Stage 1 + Carbonio when mine arrives as 200kw at the engine should be more than enough for my needs.

If we can have the car for long enough, we will try to do some dyno plots / before & after & with stock airbox on stage 1 as well.

One big benefit we see on the S3 (which runs a K04 turbo) is we get to full spool some 800rpm earlier with the divorced wastegate design. We should see some advantage of that on the Tig as well.

Will look at stainless & mild steel options if it helps with pricing

If a divorced DP is the only one that will fit how does this guy manage to do a traditional type DP on the 4mo Tig?

Only 2.75", up from the stock 2.5", not going to do that much.....

3.0" will not fit ..... .... believe me I've tried to talk a number of people into doing 1 ..... nobody is willing to risk (commercially) a conventional 3.0" as with drivetrain movement it will touch .....

I believe it is a different downpipe.
The one on vortex seems to be a stock downpipe thart has been modified rather than a whole new downpipe solution.

Edit: Damn you Johan, beat me to it.

So the APR one would be a "2.75 with a divorced 0.25" or a "2.5 with a divorced 0.5" downpipe assumably.
