I'd be happy to contribute to that in November with some nice, quality pictures for sure. Including close ups.

I am waiting for my 20's to come any day now, they are been held up at the Fedex depot ready for clearance. Should get some pics of them and some showing off the et35 offset and photos of them on the car end of next month or early Nov.

Here is a useful link for comparing tyre specs in both inches and mm. Includes tyre diameterand also sidewall height which I find handy.

          Ok,

Here's what i am thinking, feel free to point out any problems you may see:

Width (mm) Profile (%) Rim Dia (in) Wall H (mm) Circ. (mm)
          Stock Tyre Size 235 50% 18 118 2,174
          Proposed Tyre Size 245 40% 20 98 2,211

The stock tyre size above is off the 18 inch New Yorks.

          Falken make 245/40/20's.

Only a 1.7% difference in Circ. so nominal affect on Speedo. Little bit extra tire wall, sacrafice tire width, so will have to get the offset right at 35.

That would be within the legal limits as well.

It is do-able, but the tyre cost is going to be pretty huge, as well as availability in Aus to the same specifications for load limit and speed rating.

255/35 20 is what ABT tuning use on their 20" rims and is the exact height/circumference of a standard Tiguan tyre and is also cheaper than the 245/40 20 from my research O.S. and localy. Having said that I personally am looking at fitting 245/40/-20 up front and 275/35/20 out back or 275's all round if the steering clears. Also got my 20"x9" RS6 replicas delivered by the Fedex with no extra taxes from www.eurowheelsgallery.com in the States off Ebay. Will post pics as soon as I upload them, now to wait for the car for a month and a bit.

Went to the dealer yesterday and measured up the available space in the front wheel well on a 147 Tig with the 235/55/17 setp and at 27.2" in height they left little room for error in going up a size with the spring-cup on the strut leaving approx 10-12mm of clearance. Too tight to risk going a 245/40/20 tyre at 27.7" especialy as I was buying my tyres online from the US without been able to trial fit them. Ended up buying the 255/35/20 in a Continental ExtremeContact DW(Us model) for $US640 or approx AU$750.
As much as I wanted 275/35/20s allround with the spring-cup clearance issues, not gonna happen, unless you got coilovers then they should fit ok with the right offset wheels.

Let us know how the Conti DW is. I'm planning on going with them when spring/summer comes back to Seattle. I'll be doing 255/45/18 all around.

I will let you know sometime in November, that's the good thing in Australia we don't realy need winter/snow tyres (in most cases) and the DWS version are ugly in comparrison, the Conti Dw was also exceptional value compared to the Contsport 3 and 2.

OK, it's going to sound like a stupid question but I'll ask anyway... where do I find the original rolling diameter of the Tiguan wheels?

Use a tyre size calculator (google it) and input your stock wheel dimensions and tyres and it will tell you the rolling diameter.

                            Also try this calculator
                            http://www.mswt.com.au/tyre_calculator.asp

Didn't end up getting the Conti DW but got some Goodyaer Eagle F1 Assymetric for a better price and used the saving to pay for shipping, in the tirerack test just pipped the conti and narrowly beaten by the Michelin PS2, pics on page 2 of this threadhttp://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...t=34753&page=3
