tempe don't do many vw replica's at all, mainly audi as they are an "upgrade" for vw drivers.

I believe the flared guards are to accomodate the wider wheels and tires they run for the 19" Savannahs.

I believe there are similar looking wheels out there that won't cost you an arm and a leg for tyres or lose ride quality.

      Interesting thread.

I am looking at wheel options for my black 147 due in November and am really interested in seeing what the 19" Savannah's look like.

Has anyone seen any pics with this option? Particulaly with the part black on em.

Brochure says you need flared guards, this is is ar$e covering BS right?

Can we expect Tempe Tyres/7 Day to have some decent replicas soon or am i kidding myself and should just look at a similar alternative? Comments welcome.

      Cheers

        Thanks Transfer,

Perfect! Only way these pics could have been better is if they were on a clean Black 147, but i am sold.

I will be puting 19's on mine and hopefully trying to get my hands on those exact bi-colour savannahs. They dont look like they will scrub out and i have been driving a rigid go cart (2004 MR2 Spyder) around for 5 years so a bit of ride quality is something i am happy to sacrafice.

I just gotta figure out this "offset" business and where i can get em without paying through the nose. I wonder if i can trade in my new stock 147 wheels with tyres.

Anyway, plenty of time to sort that out with my November delivery on the car.

Thanks again guys and look forward to contributing to this forum in the future.

        Cheers

          Hi JamesTiguan147,

Which 'standard' wheels are you getting? The Davenports in 17"? We have looked at the upgrade cost for 18" VW OEM wheels and would rather get the replicas and spend the difference elsewhere. Being in SYD it is relatively easy for you to go and see the wheels/tyre places, but for us, we just tend to get 'simple-straightforward' answers over the phone without too much detail such as offset etc... I have found that Tempe, St George, 7 Day all do the wheels but depending on availability it may pay to order ahead. I also seem to be of the understanding that the wheels they stock are generally +40 or +42 offset, whereas a +35 will give the car a wider stance appearance, still without rubbing.
Let me know what type of wheels you have coming and if you are keen, how much?

            Hi,

Pretty sure i'm getting the 17" Boston 5 spokes standard. Yeah will do, i'll just rock up to all three of those places, see if i can get my hands on those 19" Savannahs with a 35 offset over the next few days, see what timing is.

Hopefully i can time it so the Bostons will be new, my post got quite a lot of interest so if you're chasing the Davenports i shouldn't have too much trouble moving em if you're not keen on the Bostons.

            Cheers

Got these RS6 20"x9" ET35 replicas from Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SI%3AAU%3A1123 made an offer less than the buy it now, same ones St George do but only in 17 and 18 and they didn't have 19s at last timeI rang. As for tyres a 255/35/20 has an exact 27" rolling diameter as the stock 16" like the 255/40/19 do for the 19"s. For abit more sidewall I am thinking on going for a 275/35/20 which has a 27.7 rolling diamter like the BMW X5s(which have an even higher aspect ratio) and Audi Q5s which run a 255/45/20. Always wondered why the Tiguan for an SUV run such a small height tyer compared to its counterparts ?

They look okay, not sure how they will look on teh tig, you should put up some pictures.
I wouldn't go anything over 18" purely for the cost and availability of tyres for them.

But that is just my opinion.

I have done various Photoshop mockups of various wheels and sizes but haven't uploaded the pics to a web space to upload them. They are not my favorite on the Tiguan and look alot better on an Audi but the 20"s do fill the guards nicely like on the X5s. Personaly I do think the required 255/35/20 is little thin on sidewall and the added 0.7"(17.78m) of the 275/35/20 even 255/40/20 shouldn't make much of difference with the speedo (just drive a little less than the speedometer reads) but that extra sidewall make things more even with the 18" and 19"s. The 19" savanah wheels with a 255/40/19 fit fine on a Tiguan with plenty of sidewall for comfort but with added response and is not much of a compramise over the 18"s.

Suprisingly 20" tyres are cheaper and more readily available than 19"s of a comparable size in a lot of cases.

Oileoi, I have a set of 18 x 9 with 45mm offset and I'm using 255/45R18 and I'm lowered 30mm as H&R springs let me and I haven't rubbed at all, this sizes respects the overall diameter compared to the 16" OE size the tire shows up a little from the side of the car maybe 2 or 3 mm but it looks pretty bad ass.

Selling My Brand New 147 Wheels and Tyres

                              Hi All,

I have made the decision that i am definately selling my new 147 17" Bostons as soon as i take delivery of my 147 in early November. I will have other wheels lined up by then so i will probably take the day off work and drive straight from the VW dealer to the Wheel and Tyre place to make the changeover.

Ideally it would be good to sell them to someone in Sydney that can meet me at the Wheel and Tyre place that day to pick them up but we'll see what happens.

Please shoot me a private message with your best offer if you are interested.

If you're curious, i'm selling them to get 19" wheels.

                              Cheers

Maybe we should start a member Wheel/Tyre size/fitment database with pictures of course to show any clearance issues which amy or may not arise and pictures alway can sow more than words ever can.
