Just purchased a new 132tsi comfortline. I noticed that when I put it in reverse there is only one reverse light illuminated. Not sure if the other bulb is busted or whether there is simply 1 reverse light. I had read on a European forum that this is the case but wanted to double check.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Standard on many European cars. The other light (which is basically useless in Aust) is a fog light.

Can you use a VCDS to program the rear fog light to come on when you engage reverse gear?

There's many ways to do this with Leuchte programming, but perhaps the easiest is as follows:- Select 09 - Central Electr control module
- Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
- Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
- Select Adaptation - 10 from the the "Open Controller" screen
- Enter LA72 into the search box and from the pull-down arrow, select ENG116962-ENG116370-Leuchte26NSL LA72-Lichtfunktion B 26
- The default value of this channel should be not active - only if this is so, change the setting to Rückfahrlicht
- Click the Doit! button to accept the change
This process automatically applies the same illumination level to the reverse light that is factory set for the fog light function (which will be 127 since the new Tiggy has LED tails)
Don
PS: I don't own the new Tiggy (I have a Golf mk7), but I have found that it's also useful to turn-on the 3rd Brake light when reversing. It's unfortunately a red color, but the higher position of the LED strip seems to provide a good general illumination when going backwards!
If you also want to apply this function to the 3rd Brake light - see my instruction HERE. Note: use the instructions for the last column of the table, but don't apply the changes in column 1, or 2 to the Tiggy (the 3rd Brake light on the Golf mk7 is factory programmed differently to your beast)Last edited by DV52; 25-05-2017, 04:57 PM.Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. Yes. I can confirm there are 2 functioning reverse lights on my 162 TSI.

If you look at the table in my link, you will notice that the brake light function and the reverse light function both have the same Dimmwert value (i.e. 127). So both activities are equally illuminated!
Also, I have designed the tweak so that the reversing light has the highest priority, but in truth when both the bake light and reversing light are on together, the effect appears to be the same. But how often is the car reversing on a major highway?

Anyone done this on the Tiguan Allspace?

I hate the 1 reverse light on my Allspace. I have to constantly tap the brake light when i reverse at night to see adequately.
Cheers.
Bump, would also like to know, as i've recently just purchased a 2022 Tiguan Allspace, and the one reverse light is triggering meAlready disappointed that my dealer told me even if i sourced the LED tail lights and install myself, it would void the warranty.

Why dont you just put your left foot lightly on the brake pedal and have all your rear lights on. Been doing that for 50 years long before reversing lights were invented Works perfectly2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B
