Standard Qld plates are 372 x 134 and the slim ones are 372 x 100. I've ordered custom standard plates but I think I may now opt for the slim ones although it'll leave a strip of plastic on show each side but won't protrude below. Decision now is black lettering on white background or white lettering on black background!
As for removing it there are 5 plastic rivets holding it in place, one at each corner and one in the middle. Unless your plate would cover the holes then probably best to leave it on unless you want to fill and colour match the holes that would be left behind?
Rear is just a sponge strip that can be removed or best just cut down small enough not to protrude but provide protection to the paintwork.Tiguan 162TSI Highline with DAP in White.

I ordered ours on August 30th. Like you told it has been built and I have a VIN. It is supposed to be shipped early December ie from tomorrow onwards. So far as I can see there are two ships heading our way within the next few days. The Don Juan leaves Bremerhaven overnight tonight and the Tamerlane leaves on December 5. Both are Australia bound one via Cape Town and the other via US and NZ. January 8th for the Don Juan into Melbourne. All still a bit speculative until we can place a VIN on a shipping manifest.
Hoping that the VIN turns up on the Don Juan track and trace when I try it again in the next couple of days.Scirocco: Indium Grey, DSG, pana roof, Sat/Nav, Dynaudio, VWR springs and APR stage 1. Now sold
Arriving April 17 Audi S3 sedan, Panther black, S-tronic, PP2, pano, matrix lights, assistance pack, 40:20:40 seats, mirror pack, light inlays
Tiguan: Tiguan 162TSI, DAP and pano in Habanero
