You might be able to get an OEM with DAB through eurocar upgrades, but expect to pay a lot for it. More details in this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...-95919-16.html

I want to do some more research on the sound quality. If there was a relatively cheap way to upgrade some speakers or add a poweramp or something I'd consider it.

    • Would upgrading speakers and adding an amp void the car warranty?

I'm thinking about adding in a dashcam, but would like it to be professionally installed to hide all the wires. It looks like this procedure would be similar to upgrading the sound system as you need to tap into the fuse and 'open' up the car.

      • Regarding DSG lag:

After taking the car for a test drive a while back I too noticed this. Two things I can think of:

        1) You are basically trying to move a 1.6 tonnes of the standstill using a 2.0L turbocharged engine. Even though the torque is good the RPM for max torque is at 1500, while sitting at the lights the RPM would be around 900 I presume. This delay in getting such mass moving will be noticeable. Which is why you really feel the car moving only after 2100-2200 RPM when the turbo kicks in; hence the delay.

        2) The start-stop function is a little too trigger-happy. I noticed this when I was sitting at the lights and the moment it turned off is when I put my foot on the accelerator - the delay was very much noticeable. I had my foot on accelerator and nothing happened for at least 1-2 seconds. Perhaps to conserve fuel the engine begins hibernation mode between when you stop and when engine turns off due to start-stop technology?

        • Got a call from the dealer this morning to confirm a delay in production for the 162tsi. They are now saying May [or later]. Anyone else ordered recently (eg in the last week or so) and got a call re delivery timing?

          • I got an email from my dealer today and she gave me the VIN number for my 162TSI R Line and confirmed it was still on track for delivery on the 29/12.

I much prefer this post over the previous one I know you're in NZ but 29/12 seems pretty early. Is that for delivery to you, or arriving in the country? If it's delivery to you, then they would be arriving a week or two earlier. I would have thought the shipment would have gone from Germany, stopped at NZ to drop those vehicles and continued on to AUS for the aussie ones. That doesn't appear to be the case as it only takes a few more days to get to the east coast of Australia.

I know you folks have different variations to use (i.e. they don't share all the same features), but the engine would be the same, so any delays in 162TSI's would be experienced by both markets I would have thought.

              • If you have the VIN, you can track it with Wallenius shipping. It should be on the boat already if you expect it to be delivered to the port in NZ in the next 6 weeks.

If its not on the boat already, unless they will fly it out from Germany, I doubt you'd see it by end December.

When did you order it and was any reason given?

                  • ok guys I just got an update from my dealer

                    Good news
                    - There is an official bulletin to dealers regarding R-line delivery, so we can stop the Highline/R-Line delivery speculation

                    Bad news
                    - Due to global high demand of R-Line package on 162TSI and 140TDI, delivery of current orders that have not yet been scheduled are expected to range from Feb to May.
                    - New orders likely not to be delivered prior to May.

It also looks like highline orders without R-line pack are not affected and will arrive in Aus before the R-Line.

We can also hope that their factory will be able to increase R-line package production to catch up.

                      Hi there

2nd Kiwi here who has received a VIN for my R-Line. Checked the VIN no on Auto DNA and it tells me the car has been built already.
Have been told to expect arrival of Car carrier around the 21 st December. If this is the case then vessel is leaving Europe on the 14th Nov
according to the sailing schedule on the Wallenius website

You are correct in saying that VW has been overwhelmed with orders on the NEW Tiguan, so much so I think the Factory is working weekend shifts to try to catch up.

                        Hi Osko
I ordered beginning of last week. Was told I got an allocated vehicle and contract had March 2017, but got a call today pretty much relaying the same message as per post from VWVY.

                        I had ordered a 162tsi R-Line.

                        • I ordered a 162/DAP at least a month ago, no R line on it and at the weekend the dealer was standing by an early February delivery date.
