It's also a more powerful head unit (compute processing power) so it is apparently a bit smoother when navigating through the menu etc. Also, it's been discussed here before, but the Pro will allow the navigation maps to be on both the head unit and on the active info display, where as the Discover media does not (because it's processing power is not as good).

So I saw this today... My first face to face with an R Line. It's impressive (not in grey) but nice overall, The leather seats are great and almost feels like taking a seat in the Golf R (sharing the same steering wheel + Honey comb) and having an actual R next to it I was driven to the Tiguan more so from an interior perspective. The LEDs are sweet as well, back seats are pretty decent and the front end is just awesome IMO.

      Here are some pics

      • Thanks for posting those pics! I agree on the grey, certainly looks a lot better in white, but if you wanted perhaps a more understated look then the grey wouldn't be a bad choice. I see you're in Sydney, which dealership was it?

Many thanks for the pics. Is that, by any chance, a non-R Highline hiding to the left of it? Seems like almost all the shots I've seen of the Highlines are optioned with the R-line package!

I believe this is a comfortline didn't have DAP, Sunroof or R line package. The mags kinda look nicer on it as well.

                • I got my first look at an r line tig today out the back of a dealer. Very nice indeed.

You would be happy tigger, we went today to buy the srt jeep, test drove and loved it, had a brand new one with a few options for 84k lined up until we went for a drive up to see the brother in law at vw, well didn't crap hit the fan lol. Ended up in contact with someone very high up at jeep Australia telling us to not buy an srt. Told they are amazing cars and would pick them hands down to drive, but it would be the last on the list to own. Helps knowing people lol.

Sooooo we ended up buying a Touareg lol. Canceled the Tiguan and went to the larger cousin. Got an amazing deal. The owner of the dealership, dealer principal I think they are called, stepped in and made him sell it at a loss just so we didn't buy the jeep lol.

The R-Line in those pics is Tungsten Silver to be perfectly accurate

Thanks for the pics Bassik.. Gonna go have a look at it today, it means our one should be there soon .

Still wish the electric tow bar was available in OZ, then again we don't get alot of the cool options, the HUD, tow bar and few other neat gadgets on the EURO versions.

                      • By the way this Tig was a TDI. I forgot to mention. Yeah I didn't know that the rear leg swipe thing to close the boot wasn't an option for Oz. I must have looked like and idiot swinging my foot at the back. Towbar for me would have been a def

****, we don't even get that? Damn it, i know its an option that has many complaints and is troublesome, but still just to have it grrrr. Ahh well the missus still loves the car and better than the crap we were getting for the money in a Range Rover. We ordered the TDI with all options so yeah it's what were getting, but thanks so much for the info.

                          • I'm pretty sure we do get the leg swing thing. I'm sure it was mentioned in an Australian review.

                              Doesn't seem like it.

                              Model variants: 140TDI DSG and 162TSI DSG / 7 speed DSG & 4MOTION All-wheel Drive
                              Additional features:

                              • LED headlights
                              • Keyless Access
                              • Electronically-operated tailgate with Easy Open and Close
                              • Vienna leather-appointed upholstery*
                              • Dark tinted rear & side windows

                              However... The brochure says different.

                              Open close tailgate.

For when you need an extra hand… or foot.

One small but significant addition to the Tiguan (and part of the optional Luxury package for Comfortline) is the automatically operated tailgate, which allows for fuss-free opening and closing of the rear door. With the Easy Open function, the tailgate can be opened simply by waving a foot in front of a sensor, making it enormously convenient when carrying a load of shopping. Closing the tailgate is as easy as pressing a button or allowing the Easy Close function to shut the tailgate automatically when the user moves away from the vehicle. Perfect for when you’ve got your hands full.‴

‴Electric operating tailgate available as standard with Tiguan Highline or optional with the Luxury Package on the Tiguan Comfortline only

                              • In NZ we get the "Easy Open plus Easy Close - sensor controlled luggage compartment opener" as standard with the 162TSI R Line and is a $300 open for the Highline which just gets "Electric Tailgate - luggage compartment opening and closing" as standard.
